Jerry L. Andrews, 86, of Rochester

Jerry L. Andrews, 86, of Rochester passed away at 12:10 AM on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 surrounded by his loving family at Life Care Center of Rochester.  

 

On July 22, 1934, Jerry Lee  was born in Argos to Thomas and Martha Byers Andrews.   As one of nine children, he shared his childhood with four sisters and four brothers.    Proudly, Jerry graduated with the Argos High School Class of 1953.

 

Patriotism beckoned and Jerry answered the call serving with the US Army.  His stint began on October 13, 1954.  He was honorably discharged on October 12, 1956.

 

On March 18, 1958, Jerry and Miss Janet Lee Woodcox were married in Rochester.  They shared 58 years of life’s adventures. Their union produced a daughter and three sons. Two more branches have been added to their family tree.

 

The skill of the art of masonry was passed down from Jerry’s father, Tom. Building with bricks, stones, blocks and tiles with precision and expertise was Jerry’s way of life.  He left his fingerprint on many businesses and homes with his meticulous masonry style.  Jerry was the proud mason of many beautiful and unique fireplaces.  He and John Figlio teamed to provide masonry services for Rochester High School, Life Care Center, area car washes.  They also completed a memorial at the University of Notre Dame.  Jerry retired in 1996 and was a member of Local 8.  

 

For over 50 years, Jerry enjoyed fishing for crappie and bass on the sparkling waters of Lake Manitou.  He also could be seen with his flyrod, fishing on Pike Lake near Warsaw.   Jerry hooked many big fish and sharing his limit with family and friends at the fish fry.    He was a former member of the Church of God and had most recently attended The Cross Church.

 

Jerry will be lovingly remembered by his daughter:  Cindy Coffing and husband Brent of Rochester; three sons: Robert Andrews and wife Stacy of Mentone, David Andrews and wife Amy of Rochester, William Andrews of Rochester; nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren; one sister: Shirley Stephens and husband Herbert of Argos a brother Doug Andrews and wife Lynn of Argos and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Preceding Jerry in death are his parents, beloved wife Janet on May 15, 2016, three sisters: Linda Howard, Mary Correll, Leila Denny, three Andrews brothers: Thomas, Larry and Mike.

 

 A celebration of the life of Mr. Jerry Lee Andrews will be at 2:00 PM  on Friday, June 11, 2021 in the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 West 18th St., Rochester with Pastor  Dave Pennington officiating.

 

Friends may visit with the family from 12-2  PM on Friday in the funeral home.  

 

Military rites will be conducted by the Fulton County Veteran’s Honor Guard and the US Army Honors Team.  Interment will be in the Rochester IOOF Cemetery.  

 

Memorials may be made to the Fulton County DAV  Fund, through the Auditors’ Office, 125 E. 9th St., Rochester, IN 46975.
