Georgia Ann Delp Day 92, Rochester

Georgia Ann Delp Day 92, Rochester, passed away at 4:25 P.M. Thursday, June 10, 2021 at Life Care Center of Rochester.

 

She was born on August 19, 1928 in Rochester, Indiana, the daughter of John A. and Pauline (Clay) Snyder. On May 9, 1947 in Rochester, Indiana, she married Robert Edward Delp. He preceded her in death on February 16, 1983. On September 28, 2002 at the Rochester City Golf Course, she married Richard E. “Dick” Day and he survives.

 

Georgia Ann along with her husband, Robert, had owned Delp Cleaners for many years. She later retired from the Rochester Telephone Company. She had been a member of First Baptist Church, Elks Lodge, Tri-Kappa Sorority, Moose Lodge, and the American Legion Auxiliary.

 

Georgia Ann was an accomplished bowler, having bowled for over fifty years and having won one state individual bowling title. She was an avid golfer, including hitting a hole in one at the Rochester Elk’s Golf Course. In her leisure time, she enjoyed walking, dancing, collecting antiques, dolls, traveling, and wintering in Florida along with her husband Richard.

 

Survivors include her husband, Richard E. “Dick” Day, Rochester, Indiana, sons, John (Jennifer) Delp, Nokomis, Florida, Dave Delp and fiance’ Caren Parko, Rochester, Indiana, step-children, Pamela Vandermark, Akron, Indiana, Joe (Marianne) Day, Akron, Indiana, grandchildren, Lyndee (Mark) Mersch, Georgia, great grandchildren, Mason, Isabelle and soon to be baby boy in August 2021,  step-grandchildren, Leann (John) Carr, Akron, Indiana, David (Angela) Madeford, Akron, Indiana, Scott (Tiffany) Cooksey, Akron, Indiana, Kevin (Carrie) Cooksey, Silver Lake, Indiana, several step- great grandchildren, one step great-great grandson, several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Almyrta Blue, step- son-in-law, Jim Vandermark, and step-grandson, Patrick Day.

 

Private services will be observed.

 

Burial will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Rochester, Indiana.

 

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association.
