Donna Lee (Smith) Louk, 55, of Argos

Donna Lee (Smith) Louk, 55 of Argos, Indiana left this world the morning of July 7, 2021 after a private three and one-third year battle with stage IV colon cancer.

She was born July 3, 1966 in Plymouth, Indiana to Lee R. and Bonnie Lee (Gibbons) Smith. She  was raised in Northern Fulton County, and she shared her childhood with an older sister.

Donna graduated from Culver Community High School in 1984 and Indiana University in 1988 with a  B.S. degree in Business Management and Administration.  She had worked as a human resource manager in multiple, local businesses.  She started her career at Rochester Metal Products, and then moved to Hoosier Racing Tire.   She was instrumental in the start up of the formerly known as Madras Packaging plants in Argos, Indiana and Atlanta, Georgia.  She also was on the management team which started Medallion Cabinetry in Culver, Indiana.  She finished her career with Wiers International at the Plymouth, Indiana location.

It can be said Donna loved her jobs, coworkers, and lived to work.   Donna worked until the very end of her disease, and she sincerely appreciated Tom Weirs and the Weirs team support when she told them she was no longer able to work.  On her July 3rd birthday, the management team came to her house to announce the first annual “Donna Louk Can Do Attitude Award” to be given annually to a Weir’s employee who exemplifies Donna’s positive attitude.

She married her high school sweetheart Andy Louk of Culver.  They later divorced, and she met Terry Thompson of Argos. Terry and Donna enjoyed traveling to Nevada, driving their golf cart around town, and supporting the Argos American Legion.   Each year, Donna anticipated the week long Marshall County 4-H fair.  Each night, they could be seen driving the golf cart to the fair.  Her mom would have the front seat next to Donna, and Terry would be riding on the back of it.  Terry passed in 2014, and she then met Gary Stouse.   They also traveled to Nevada and enjoyed many evenings around the fire pit in the backyard, shopping and traveling.

Donna was known for her generous heart and her life-long love of cats.  She enjoyed feeding and providing shelter for stray cats.

She was a member of the Santa Anna Church, Argos, Indiana.

She is survived by her sister Mary Lou Durkes of Culver and Rochester,  Indiana.   Donna is also survived by Gary Stouse of Argos.

She was preceded in death by her parents, former husband Andy Louk, and Terry Thompson.

Graves side services will be Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Maple Grove Cemetery, Argos, Indiana with Rev. Henry Sprunger.

A gathering for friends to reminisce about her life will be held immediately following the service at the American Legion Post 68 in Argos, Indiana.

Earl-Grossman Funeral Home in Argos is in charge of the arrangements.

Memorial donations may be made to the Fulton County Animal Adoption and Educational Center, 1540 N. Wentzel Street, Rochester, IN  46975.
