Richard C. Alderfer, 71, of Rochester

Richard C. Alderfer, 71, of Rochester, passed away at 6:20 PM on Tuesday, July 27, 2021.

On March 5, 1950, Richard Clinton Alderfer was born in Rochester.  He was a treasured son of Frederick and Elizabeth G. Davidson Alderfer. Growing up he grew up with two brothers Charles and Stephen.  He was a life time resident of Fulton County.

Answering the call of patriotism, Rich served in the Vietnam War with the United States Marine Corp and was honorably discharged in 1970.

For 42 years, Rich was a truck driving professional, transporting goods from coast to coast.  To relax he enjoyed fishing in waters around the county. He was proud to ride his Harley-Davidson, enjoying the freedom of the ride.  Rich was a member of the Manitou Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #1343.  Grandpa Rich found great happiness with being with his grandchildren.  He attended their games, school activities and simply loved celebrating birthdays and being together at the holidays.

Left to cherish Rich's memory are four daughters:  Sabrena Simpson and husband Norman and Seanita Siple and husband Jaymin, Lisa Franklin all of Rochester, Jeri McKinney and husband Bryan of Hastings, FL;  11 grandchildren: Brooke, Damion, Grady, Jacob, Abby, Katie, Selby, Riley, Parker, Baylee, Easton; two brothers: Charles Alderfer and wife Sharon and their sons Christopher and Timothy of Rochester, and Stephen Alderfer of Plymouth; and special friends Pat, Roger and Terry.

Preceding Richard in death are his parents.

A celebration of the life of Mr. Richard C. "Rich" Alderfer will be at 1:00 PM on Monday August 2, 2021 in the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 West 18th St., Rochester.

Friends may visit with the family from 11-1 PM on Monday in the funeral home.  

Military honors will be conducted by the Fulton County Veteran's Honor Guard and the United States Marine Corps Honors Team.  

Memorials may be made to the Fulton County Veterans, DAV Vehicle Fund, 815 Main Street, Rochester, IN  46975.   

Interment will be in the Richland Center IOOF Cemetery.
