Donovan Lynn Nelson 41, Rochester, Indiana, passed away at 3:53 A.M. Sunday, September 5, 2021 at his residence.

He was born on August 21, 1980 in San Luis Obispo, California the son of Steven J. Nelson and Augusta (Hanno) Kiene and grew up in Cambria, California.

Donovan loved to travel. After high school, he lived with his brother in Seattle and San Francisco before living in Manchester, New Hampshire, Landshut, Germany and Cambridge, England. Donovan moved to Rochester to be with his mother and sister. He had worked for Gulf Stream in Etna Green and was proud to be a part of the making of the trailers for the survivors of Hurricane Katrina in 2006. He enjoyed hanging out with his family, listening to music and animals. He loved playing basketball with his niece, Arabella and playing at the park with his young nephews, Aydin and Milo. He was dedicated to the care of his two Chinese Shar Pei dogs, Zoidberg and Su Zin and his alligator snapping turtle, Nelson.

Survivors include his mother, Augusta Kiene, Rochester, Indiana, sister, Joline (Phillip) Taylor, Rochester, Indiana, brother, Shaun Nelson, Wilmington, North Carolina, niece, Arabella Taylor, Rochester, Indiana, nephews, Aydin Taylor and Milo Taylor, both of Rochester, Indiana, uncle, Scott Nelson, Fredonia, Arizona and his longtime friend from elementary school, Hernan Castellano, Santiago, Chile. He was preceded in death by his father, paternal grandparents, Roseann and Jim Nelson, maternal grandparents, Eddie and Juanita Hanno.
