Vernellee Reffett, 80 of Rochester

Vernellee Reffett, 80 of Rochester passed away on Monday, September 27, 2021 at her home.

 

On February 15, 1941, Vernellee Howard was born in Floyd County, Kentucky to Adam D. and Lina Adams Howard. Growing up she shared her childhood with two brothers Edsel and Delmar. During the early years her family moved to Rochester.  Proudly she graduated from Rochester High School with the class of 1960.

 

On January 3, 1963, Miss Vernellee Howard and Calvin A. Reffett were married . They shared 56 years of life’s adventures. From their union came two handsome sons Shane and Shawn.  The family tree continued to grow with the added blessings of  2 grandsons Charlie and Jack.  

 

An accomplished seamstress, Vernelle worked for Hart Shaffner Marx, later she worked for Superior Sample and Topps Safety Apparel.  To relax she enjoyed watching the birds and her favorite television shows. The last two years she completed over one hundred jigsaw puzzles. She was an avid quilter and created warm memories for her family.  The serenity of beautiful Lake Manitou was cherished by Vernellee.

 

Left to cherish Vernelee's memory are a son, Shane Reffett and wife Lisa of Rochester; two grandsons Jack Carvey Reffett and Charles Reffett; two nephews, Adam Howard, Chris Thompson, a niece Angie Howard; sister-in-law, Mary Young of South Bend.

 

Preceding Vernellee in death are her parents, beloved husband Calvin on February 9, 2019, son Shawn Reffett on December 25, 2017; two brothers Edsel Howard in 1971 and Delmar Howard in 1985.

 

A celebration of the life of  Mrs. Vernellee Reffett will be at 10:00 AM on Friday, October 1, 2021 in the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 West 18th St., Rochester.  Pastor Gail Law will officiate.

 

Friends may visit with the family from 5-7 PM on Thursday, and from 9:30 – 10:00 on Friday AM in the funeral home.  

 

Interment will be in the Citizens Cemetery.  

 

Memorials may be made to the Lake Manitou Association, PO Box 376, Rochester, IN 46975.  

 

Vernellee’s family would like to thank Help at Home of Logansport for the care and compassion shown to their mom, grandma and sister.
