Charles "Charlie" Cannon, 70

Charles “Charlie” Cannon, 70, passed away at 11:11 AM on Friday, October 9,  2021 at his residence.

On January 5, 1951, Charles David was born in Delong to Charles H. and Dorothy Cooper Cannon.

As a Cavalier, Charlie was a proud member of the first graduating class of Culver Community High School in 1969.  He also served our country as a member of the United States Army and the Indiana National Guard for 22 years.  Most recently he was a member of the Rock Steady Boxing Team at the Rochester Wellness Center where he made many new friends while he worked on skills to neutralize Parkinson’s.

Charlie and Nancy L. Kirkland were married on July 3, 1971 in the Culver Bible Church. They recently celebrated their 50th anniversary. Their union produced three daughters and a son. Another generation has been added to the family tree with the addition of 11 grandchildren.

With a meticulous effort, Charlie manicured his lawn each week.  Gifted with his hands he was able to help friends and neighbors with home improvement projects like roofing, decks and updating bathrooms.  Charlie was a NASCAR racing fan and loved riding his Harley-Davidson motorcycles.  On September 5, 2021 he was baptized in the Tippecanoe River by Pastor Bob Metzger.

Charlie’s greatest accomplishment was his legacy.  He was so very proud to oversee three generations.  There was nothing better than relaxing and making memories with his family at the holidays and special family celebrations.

Left to cherish Charlie’s memory are his wife, Nancy, three daughters, Jessica Ringer and husband Rodney of Culver, Cara Lee Robertson of Rochester, Courtney Lustig and husband Ben of Elverson, PA, and son Jared Cannon of Rochester; 11 grandchildren, Gage, Mia, Emma, Liam, Charley, Maggie Jo, Mary, Lindsey, Jacob, Emerson, Evelyn; sister, Janet Harrover and husband Doug of Jacksonville, FL; sister-in-law, Robin Minix; brother-in-law. A celebration of the life of Charles David Cannon will be at 1:00 PM on Friday, October 15, 2021 in the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 West 18th St., Rochester. Pastor Bob Metzger will officiate.  Friends may visit with the family from 11-1 on Friday in the funeral home.
