John W. Ortman, 76, of Winamac, IN went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 10, 2021. He passed away at Woodlawn Hospital in Rochester, IN.
John was born at home in rural Pulaski County, IN on January 19, 1945 to the late Julius G. and Lois B. [Meiser] Ortman. He attended Fairview School through 8th grade and Star City School through12th grade. John worked on the family farm alongside his father and brother.
In 1966, he joined the Indiana Army National Guard and served six years. On November 18, 1967 John married Rachelle Lain in Lawton, IN.
John was a member of Bethel Bible Church in Winamac for nearly 50 years, where he served as an usher and greeter. He was also a member of Northern Indiana Power from the Past, where he served as a director.
John was currently employed as a deliveryman at CFS in Kewanna, IN. He had formerly worked at Wilson Foods in Logansport, IN as well as at Galbreath, Inc. in Winamac. John raised hogs for 24 years and was proud to be a farmer.
John enjoyed collecting farm toys and was a tractor and tool enthusiast. He was kind and never met a stranger. John thoroughly enjoyed sharing the Gospel with others. He was a loving husband and devoted father and grandfather. John will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Visitation will be from 11 AM – 2 PM EST Saturday, December 18, 2021 at Bethel Bible Church in Winamac, IN.
Funeral Services will be held at 2 PM EST Saturday, December 18, 2021 at Bethel Bible Church in Winamac, IN with Pastor Don Whipple officiating.
Burial will take place at Winamac Cemetery (McKinley Addition) in Winamac, IN. The American Legion and VFW will provide Military Graveside Services.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Bethel Bible Church Missionary Fund.
