Sylvia Paulsen, 95, of Winamac

Sylvia Paulsen, 95, of Winamac, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 17, 2021.  She passed away peacefully at her residence with her son by her side. 

 

Sylvia was born at the family farm on February 25, 1926 in rural Denham, IN to the late Arthur E. and Adoline [Brettin] Peters.  She was a 1944 graduate of North Judson High School in North Judson, IN. 

 

On July 29, 1956, Sylvia married Franklin J. “Frank” Paulsen in Winamac.  Frank passed away on June 6, 2011.  In the early years of their marriage, they enjoyed attending Rural Youth events.  They especially enjoyed square dancing with their friends in the Tippecanoe Twirlers Club.  

 

Sylvia was a longtime member of the Winamac Methodist Church where was very active in numerous church committees and circles.  She taught Sunday school with her husband for many years and will be fondly remembered for her role in preparing funeral and Kiwanis dinners.  Sylvia delighted in singing with the church choir and at Epworth Forest Choir School.  Additionally she sang with the Pulaski County Extension Chords and Sounds of Hope European Tour.   Sylvia was also a member of the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, Monroe Modern Home Ec Club, as well as the former Rebekah Lodge all of Winamac. 

 

Sylvia worked nearly 42 years at the Federal Land Bank Association in Winamac.  She made many lasting friendships during her time working at the bank.  Sylvia was kind, friendly, and known for her hospitality.  Most of all she was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great great grandmother.  Although she will be missed, Sylvia’s memory will always be cherished by her family and friends.

Sarah (fiancée: Morgan Jenson) Paulsen, Granddaughter

1 Great Great Granddaughter: Andrea

Arlene (Richard) Ward, Winamac, IN Sister

Visitation will be from 10:00 AM – 12 Noon EST Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at the Winamac First United Methodist Church.

Funeral Services will be held at 12 Noon EST Wednesday, December 22, 2021 at the Winamac First United Methodist Church.

Burial will take place at Winamac Cemetery (McKinley Addition) in Winamac, IN.

The family will host a Celebration of Life at a later date.

Memorial Contributions may be made to the Winamac First United Methodist Church.
