Alma Medina, 65, of Rochester

Alma Medina, 65, of Rochester, passed away at 6:26 AM on Monday, March 14, 2022 at Parkview Regional Hospital of Fort Wayne.

 

On April 25, 1956, Alma Delia Ochoa was born in Beeville, Texas.  She was the treasured youngest daughter of Amadeo and Paula Flores Ochoa.

 

A member of the Rochester Church of God, Alma was a woman of strong faith. She collected unique elephant figurines and enjoyed the challenges of crossword puzzles.  Alma fished at Woodlawn pond and Prairie Park pond with great success.  Her favorite snack was Dr. Pepper and Frito-Cheetos.  Watching Spanish stories on TV was a great way to relax.

 

As the matriarch of the Medina family Grandma Alma was proud to oversee three generations.  From her kitchen she made homemade tortillas and "Papas," potatoes with red sauce for her family to enjoy.  Grandma treasured the time with her family making memories at special family celebrations and at the holidays.

 

Left to cherish Alma's memory are five daughters: Elizabeth Garcia and husband Pascual of Mexico, Beatrica Ruiz and husband Carlos of Logansport, Maria Medina of Rochester, Beronica Mendez and husband Marly of Rochester, Renee Olmedo and husband Fernando of Richville, MN; three sons, Herman Lee Medina Jr. and wife Heather of Rochester, Billy Medina and wife Meagan of Rochester, Amadeo “Mayo” Medina and wife Tammy of Fulton; 24 grandchildren; Olivia Medina, Ethan Medina, Gabriella Medina, Owen Medina, Andres Hernandez, Bruce Mendez, Jiovanni Mendez, Jose Ruiz, Leonard (Nano) Ruiz, Alejandro (Alex) Ruiz, Julissa Ruiz, Irene Torrer, Francisco Raya, Angelica Raya, Luis Raya, Rodolfo Raya, Pascual (Jr.) Garcia, Audriana Medina, Antonio Medina, Taylor Medina, Tanner Medina, Chase Mounts, Chandler Bright, Caitlynn Miller  and another blessing of a granddaughter due to arrive this year; four great grandchildren: Camila Garrido, Roselia (Rosie) Ruiz, Tobie Ruiz, Serenity Ruiz; brother, Hector Ochoa of Pierceton and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Preceding Alma in death are her parents and numerous sisters and brothers.

 

A celebration of the life of Alma Medina will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, March 22, 2022  in the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 West 18th St., Rochester. Pastor Larry Pyeatt will officiate.

 

Friends may visit with the family from 4-7 PM on Monday, March 21, 2022 and one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.  

 

Interment will be in the Rochester IOOF Cemetery.
