Elmo Junior Bose, 91, of Rochester

Elmo Junior Bose, 91, of Rochester, passed away at 6:00 AM on Friday, March 25, 2022 at Woodbridge Center of Logansport.

 

On May 14, 1930,  Junior was born in Royal Center to Elmo R. and Irene Elsie Selby Bose. Growing up he shared his childhood with a brother Thomas. Junior started his schooling in Idaville, and transferred in the 5th grade to Buffalo where he graduated in 1948.

 

On June 26, 1949,  Junior and Edith Ruth Culp were married on June 26, 1949 at Sitka Baptist Church of Monticello. They have shared 72 years of life’s adventures.  From their union came five wonderful children.  The family tree continued to grow with a beautiful legacy of three more generations.

 

After high school Junior joined the Indiana National Guard for six years.  A man of diverse interests, he worked for 11 years at RCA in Monticello. Furthering his education, he attended Vincennes University and Indiana State University.  Junior felt called to the ministry through the American Baptist Ministry of Indianapolis Headquarters and served two churches in southern Indiana. He also pastored the Bethlehem Baptist Church for 17 years. Continuing to serve, he was the associate pastor of First Baptist Church of Rochester for 14 ½ years, retiring in 2006 and continued to be a member.  While serving at Bethlehem Church he worked at Sonoco Products of Akron. Later he was employed by Zimmer of Warsaw for 17 years, retiring in 1990. 

 

The Bose’s loved to travel, they were able to go to the Cayman Islands, twice, Haiti, Jamacia, Cozumel, New Mexico,  California and Florida.

 

Left to cherish  Junior's memory are his wife, Ruth; four children, Richard Bose and wife Joyce, of Mentone, Dan Bose and wife Barbara of Rochester, Sharlene Haney  of Mentone, Sheila Wildermuth of Rochester;  grandchildren, April Irons and husband Rick of Mentone, Matthew Bose and wife Chantelle of Indianapolis, Orville Haney of Akron, Jeremiah Haney and wife Rachel of Akron,  Barney Haney and wife Molly of Indianapolis, Amy Reeser and husband Geoff of South Whitley, Evan Wildermuth and wife Angie of Akron; 20 great-grandchildren and a great great granddaughter. Junior loved and cherished the time with his family. One of his hobbies was to make scrapbooks for each member to continuesharing and adding to the memories.

 

Preceding Junior in death are his parents, daughter Susan Kay, brother Tom Bose, two sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law.

 

Friends may visit with his family from 5-7 PM on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 and from 10-11:00 AM on Wednesday in the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 West 18th St., Rochester.   

 

A celebration of the life of Junior Bose will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, March 30, 2022 in the funeral home.  Chaplain Jason See will officiate.  

 

Interment will be in the Rochester IOOF Cemetery.
