Floyd D. Palmer, 90, of Argos

Floyd D. Palmer, 90, of Argos, passed away at 6:15 PM on Thursday, March 31, 2022 at Millers Merry Manor of Plymouth.

 

On November 13, 1931, Floyd Duane was born in Talma to Oswald Otis and Mabel Ruth Shelly Palmer. Growing up in Tiosa, he shared his childhood with three sisters and two brothers. Proudly, he graduated with the class of 1949 from Richland Center High School. Answering the call of patriotism, Floyd served in Korea and was a jet  mechanic at the Elmendorf SAC Air Force Base in Alaska during 1952 and 1953.  He was then transferred to Bergstrom Air Force Base in Austin, TX and received an honorable discharge from there on Dec. 13, 1955.  

 

Floyd and Hazel Beshears were married on January 14, 1956 in Austin, TX. They shared 66  wonderful and happy years together. Their three sons are Wayne and his wife Jenise and Curt and his wife Debbie of Plymouth In, and Alan and his wife Marilyn of Indianapolis.  

 

Floyd had a strong work ethic, Floyd worked at Bendix for many years, retiring in 1988.   As an accomplished woodworker he created many special pieces for his family to treasure. After retiring Floyd enjoyed working in his shop and keeping his yard and gardens in great condition.

 

 

Left to cherish Floyd's memory are his wife Hazel, two sons, Curt Palmer and wife Debbie of Plymouth, Alan Palmer and wife Marilyn of Indianapolis; daughter-in-law Jenise Palmer of Plymouth; eight grandchildren; six great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

 

Preceding Floyd in death are his parents, a son Floyd “Wayne” Palmer on August 2, 2010, three sisters, Norene Billissitz, Esther Walsh, Lois Burns and two Palmer brothers, Jim and Norman.

 

Graveside services for Floyd Duane Palmer will be at 1:00 PM, on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at the Richland Center IOOF Cemetery, northwest of Rochester. 

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Marshall County Humane Society, 11165 13th Rd., Plymouth, IN 46975 or Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave. Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
