Betty Calvert, 86, formerly of Rochester

Betty Calvert, 86, formerly of Rochester, passed away at 1:59 AM on Friday, May 27, 2022 at Kosciusko Community Hospital of Warsaw.

 

On August 13, 1935, Betty Lee was born in Mentone to Otis Edgar and Emma Pauline Wideman Cochran. As one of 6 children, she shared her childhood with two sisters and three brothers.

 

Betty and James E. Calvert were married on March 19, 1956 in Rochester. They shared 35 years of life’s adventures. Sadly, he passed away on September 25, 1991. Their union produced three daughters and two sons. Two more generations have been added to the family tree.

 

As a homemaker Betty cherished the time spent with her family. Often she could be found with her sewing or needlepoint in hand. The Civic Center was her home away from home, where she spent many hours with her ‘other’ family. She was a member of the Rochester Church of Christ.

 

Betty is lovingly remembered by three daughters, Janet Gaddis of Warsaw, Karen Crispen of Rochester, Susan Calvert of Rochester; six grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; one sister, Nancy Shultz of Pierceton and several nieces and nephews.

 

Preceding Betty in death are her parents, husband, two sons, Dennis Calvert in 1976, Roger Calvert in 2007, a sister Bonnie Wagoner; three brothers, Harold Cochran, William “Bill” Cochran and David Cochran.

 

A celebration of the life of Betty L. Calvert will be at 12 noon on Friday, June 3, 2022 in the Rochester Church of Christ, 120 E. 5th St., Rochester. Pastor Jim Dillinger will officiate.

 

Friends may visit with the family from 10-12 in the church on Friday.

 

Interment will be in the Rochester IOOF Cemetery.
