Frances M. Williams, 103 years

Local centenarian, Mrs. Frances M. Williams, 103 years, 2 months and 26 days, was surrounded by her loving family, when she departed this life on Thursday, June 9, 2022 at Life Care Center.      

On March 14, 1919, Frances Marie was born in Bourbon in the home of her parents,  Charles W. and Alma Marie Steinman Hershberger.

In 1937, she graduated from Bourbon High School. For 80 years she enjoyed visiting and keeping up to date with her classmates and their families. In 2017, she became the only surviving member of the class.

Frances and Howard O. Williams were married on July 16, 1939, by Rev. Ray Noland in the Foster Chapel of Bourbon. Their union produced two daughters, Michelle and Lucretia, and a son, David.  They shared 55 years of life’s adventures. The added blessings of three more generations have been added to the family tree.

As an entrepreneur and real estate broker, Frances teamed with business partner Helen Downs Smith forming Smith & Williams Realty, a well-known and vibrant company serving our community for many years.  In more recent years she was affiliated with Dave Helt Realty. Her memberships include Grace United Methodist Church, Eastern Star and Women of the Moose. As a 50-year member of the Women of the Moose, she served as SR. Regent.  Frances collected Precious Moments and Beanie Babies.

Left to cherish the memories of Frances are a son, David A. Williams and wife Lois of Rochester; four grandchildren: Jill Showley and husband Jeff of Twelve Mile, Rick Williams and wife Beth of Rochester, Rodney Marks and wife Sara of Spring, TX;  six  great-grandchildren: Ashley Bowyer and husband Kyle, Jacob Marks, Brandon Williams and wife Candice, Everett Marks, Jessica Baker and husband R.J., Jenna Showley and Fiancee' Cullen Smith; six great-great-grandchildren: Mason, Emmitt, Caitlyn, Oliver, Gracelyn, Grant; a very special, sister-in-law, Martha Hershberger of Bourbon; special nephew Butch and wife Julia Teel; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding Frances in death are her parents; husband Howard on November 28, 1994; two daughters: Michelle Williams, Lucretia Marks; grandson, Bradley Marks; great granddaughter, Michelle Marks; two sisters: Kathryn Teel, Eleanor Hoover; and brother, Mack “Bud” Hershberger.

A celebration of the life of Mrs. Frances M. Williams will be at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, June 14, 2022 in the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 West 18th St., Rochester. Rev. Rod Ruberg will officiate. Friends may visit with the family from 11-1 on Tuesday in the funeral home.  Interment will be in the New Oak Hill Cemetery of Plymouth.
