Robert Glen Deamer

Robert Glen Deamer was born in Rochester, Indiana June 17, 1940 to the union of George and Doris (Adamson) Deamer, who both preceded him in death.

His younger brother, Phillip (wife Jennifer), of Louisville, Kentucky also predeceased him. Both sets of grandparents and a cousin, Janet Law Weber, also predeceased him.

Robert is survived by his wife Eleny and his son Eric (wife Kimberly) of Lakewood, Ohio, also by his cousin Gail Law (wife Cindy) of Mentone, Indiana and their children and grandchildren.

Robert grew up in Talma, in Fulton County Indiana and graduated from Talma High School. He went on to Wabash College in Crawfordsville, Indiana, where he majored in English and German and completed a bachelor's degree. After that he attended Indiana University-Bloomington and graduated with a master's degree in English.

After teaching at the college level for four years at Alpena Community College in Michigan, and at the University of Wisconsin-LaCrosse, Robert returned to graduate studies at the University of New Mexico. He completed a PhD in American Studies after three years there and resumed teaching at Thiel College, in Greenville Pennsylvania.

Eventually he joined his parents at the family business, Deamer and Deamer, a real estate and title insurance business in Rochester, Indiana, having obtained a real estate broker's license.

Robert met his wife, Eleny, while they were both attending IU-Bloomington and working on their Master's degrees. In July 1965 they were married in her home country, Brazil, but have lived in the United States ever since. Following Robert's career they lived in Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin, New Mexico and Pennsylvania. They also traveled to Brazil three or four times. Once they both retired, they traveled to Europe and Canada.

Robert was proud of his small-town roots and often reminisced about playing high school basketball, canoeing in the Tippecanoe River and working summers for farmers in the Talma area.
