James Rager, 73, of Knox, passed away at 5:07 PM on Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at Munster Community Hospital.
On November 29, 1948, James Lawrence was born in Johnstown, PA to Harry and Betty R. Bracken Rager.
Answering the call of patriotism, Jim joined the United States Air Force. After 20 years of service, he retired in 1987. He received several medals and badges including Outstanding Unit Award with Valor Device, Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Small Arms Expert Marksmanship Ribbon.
A favorite hobby was to build model airplanes. He also had a collection of eagles. Jim was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars # 748 of Knox.
Jim and Carol Dugan were married for over 40 years. Sadly, she passed away on June 12, 2019.
Left to cherish the memories of Jim are daughter, Nicole Dilts and husband Joseph of Knox; four grandchildren: Elpien Lockmiller, Candice Lehman, Stephen Lehman and wife Elizabeth, Mark Lehman and wife Brooklyn; and a great granddaughter, Sierra.
Preceding Jim in death are his parents and wife.
A celebration of the life of James Lawrence Rager will be at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 7, 2022 in the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 West 18th St., Rochester. Friends may visit with the family from 9-11 AM on Wednesday in the funeral home. Military honors will be conducted by the Knox Veterans of Foreign Wars Honor Guard and the US Air Force Honors Team.
