Stacey Angela Carvey-Schoenhals, 42, Rochester, made Heaven an even brighter place when she arrived there from Lutheran Hospital, Ft. Wayne, on Thursday morning, January 26, 2023, after a courageous battle with her health.
 
Born January 19, 1981, in Peru, Indiana, she was the daughter of Lester Bruce and Gloria M. (Bartleman) Carvey.  On November 27, 2004, she was married to Lukas A. Schoenhals, and he survives.
 
Stacey was raised in Rochester, Indiana, and attended All Saints Elementary in Logansport.  She was a 1999 graduate of Rochester High School, where she exhibited her Zebra pride by being involved in just about any activity she could fit into her schedule.  In addition to her school involvement, she was active in the Miami County 4-H program, where she enjoyed showing animals and exhibiting her baking skills which she practiced with her “Nanny Carvey.”  
 
From high school, Stacey went on to study education at Indiana State University, where she graduated in 2003.  While at Indiana State, she was very active with the Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority, ending her college career as the chapter’s President.  Keeping active with organizations and service after college, Stacey served as former President of Tri Kappa’s Rochester Chapter, and up until the last few weeks, she was still serving as treasurer for the Rochester Athletic Boosters.  
 
After returning to Rochester, she continued her involvement with her community as a proud Zebra fan and serving on the Rochester School Board.  Stacey could be found at just about any Zebra sporting activity, always bringing her joyous and bubbly personality to cheer on her alma mater.  Although she was partial to Zebra sports, Stacey would support any child of her friends, no matter what color jersey they sported.  For many years, Stacey worked with her sister, Lisa, and brother-in-law, Shane, at Rochester Boat Company, but most often could be found around town as the personal chauffeur to her favorite nephew, Jack, whom she loved like he was her own.  
 
Stacey loved traveling and everything related to Disney.  Trips to Florida to visit Disney World always brought a smile to her face, and she loved planning the details of every trip so that her family made the most of each minute they were there.  Details were important to Stacey and each project had its own organization strategy, whether it was a basket, tote, or meticulously labeled binder.  She used her organization skills not only to plan trips, but also to decorate and coordinate parties and events which were often themed, color coordinated, and organized perfectly.  
 
Stacey was a friend to everyone she met.  If you spent just a few minutes with her, you were a friend for life.  Reunions with old friends seemed to have no time between them, and Stacey remembered every detail of her friendships over the years.  She had an incredible heart and truly loved everyone, making any greeting a moment that brightened the days of everyone.  Her smile beamed and brightened any room she walked inside.  Stacey will forever be remembered for her love, friendship, and truly being someone you could call who would give you the shirt off of her back.  
 
Survivors include her husband, Lukas A. Schoenhals, Rochester; mother, Gloria M. Carvey, Rochester; sister, Lisa A. (Shane) Reffett, Rochester; nephew, Jack Carvey Reffett, Rochester; grandmother, Donna Bell Carvey, Macy; canine child, Gizmo; and more friends than could ever be counted.
 
She was preceded in death by her father, Lester Bruce Carvey; grandparents, Lester Dee Carvey, and Stanley D. and Elizabeth Ann Bartleman; and her beloved dog, Lacey.
 
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, February 5, 2023, at Rochester High School
 
Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m.-7:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 4, 2023, at the high school.  
 
As we all say goodbye to our beloved Stacey, let us all be reminded of the words from The Adventures of Winnie-the-Pooh, “How lucky am I to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard.”
