Catherine Jeanne Beeker 80, Bloomington, and formerly of Washington, IN

Catherine Jeanne Beeker 80, Bloomington, and formerly of Washington,  passed away at 9:00 A.M. Saturday, June 24, 2023 at her residence from complications due to ALS.

She was born on June 7, 1943 in Washington, Indiana, the daughter of John and Gladys (Swan) Mallett. She graduated from Plainville, Indiana High School in 1961. She attended Indiana University receiving her Bachelor and Masters’ Degrees in Education. On April 2, 1993 in Washington, Indiana, she married Marvin Ray Beeker and he survives.

Catherine taught elementary education at Schools in Washington, Plainville and Elnora, Indiana. She served as a volunteer many years with the Reality Store, Bloomington Hospital, and Wonderlab Children’s Museum. She was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church and a member of Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority where she served on the board for many years. She had been a contributing member of the ALS Foundation.

Survivors include her husband, Marvin Ray Beeker, Bloomington, Indiana, daughter, Malinda (Bill) Matteson, Washington, Indiana, grandchildren, Ian, Brock and Ellie, all of Washington, Indiana, sisters, Linda O’Neal, Hilton Head, South Carolina, Jo Ellen Chuberka, Murrieta, California, niece, Natasha Rodgers, Temecula, California, nephews, Arge O’Neal and John Rodgers, both of Los Angeles, California. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Leon Mallett.

No services are scheduled at this time. Memorial contributions may be made to Wonderlab Children’s Museum, Bloomington, Indiana or the Daviess County Community Foundation to the Plainville High School Alumni Scholarship Fund, 320 E. Main Street, Washington, Indiana, 47501.
