Lula F. "Lou" Silveus, 89, of rural Mentone

Lula F. “Lou” Silveus, 89, of rural Mentone, Indiana (Palestine) passed at 5:33 pm, Saturday, July 8, 2023 at Lutheran Kosciusko Hospital of Warsaw, Indiana. 

Lou was born on Sept. 6, 1933 in Floyd County, Kentucky to the late James and Erma (Aldridge) Setser.  She married on Feb. 8, 1957 in Columbia City, Ind. to Richard F. Silveus, who preceded her in death on Feb. 25, 2018.

She graduated from Prestonsburg High School. She was a  member of the New Hope Freewill Baptist Church of Warsaw, Ind. for many years. Lou retired from Kimble Glass of Warsaw as an inspector in 1995.  She enjoyed fishing with her husband,  mushroom hunting, bingo, and playing cards with her friends.  

She is survived by her daughter Mary Lou Stoffey of Minnesota; sons James Richard Silveus of Reno, Nevada and Kenneth Lee and wife Johanna Silveus of Pierceton, Ind.; grandchildren Jacob Lee Silveus and companion Rebecca and Tori Jo and husband Tom Werstler; great granddaughter Harper; brothers Marvin Setser of Clintwood, Virginia, Calvin and wife Shirley Setser of Prestonsburg, Kentucky, and Jimmy and wife Pam Setser of Etna Green, Ind. 

Lou was preceded in death by her parents, husband Richard, 6 Brothers, and 3 Sisters. 

The funeral service will take place at 10:30 am, Thursday, July 13, 2023 at King Memorial Home 101 North Tucker Street Mentone, Indiana with Pastor David Cripe officiating. 

The interment will follow the service in the Palestine Cemetery, Palestine, Indiana next to her husband Richard. Visitation hours will be from 5 pm to 7 pm, Wednesday, July 12, 2023 at King Memorial Home, Mentone, Indiana. 

Memorial contributions can be made in her memory to the New Hope Freewill Baptist Church.
