Carol S. Mevis, 74, of Rochester, passed at 5:25 am, Friday, July 7, 2023 at her sister's residence in Argos, Indiana.

Carol was born on Sept. 14, 1948 in Argos, Indiana to the late Dale and Margaret (Baker) Mevis. Carol graduated from Culver High School in 1966. She served her country proudly in the U.S. Navy for 4 years during the Vietnam War as a Clerk. She furthered her service as a part of the U.S. Naval Reserves for 1 year.

In earlier years, she attended the Burr Oak Church of God with her family. Carol was a motorcycle enthusiast. She traveled to many states in the Western U.S. with her friend. She was very musical and could sing and play the guitar. She cleaned many houses and mowed several yards around Rochester.

She is survived by her sisters Mary Rex of Plymouth, Barbara Boyd of Argos, and Bernice Calhoun of Argos and multiple nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister Joan Cowset, brother Robert Dale Mevis, and a number of aunts and an uncle and numerous cousins.

Following her wishes no services will be held at this time. A private graveside service, with military rites, will take place in the Burr Oak Cemetery, next to her parents.

The arrangements have been entrusted to Hartzler Funeral Home 305 West Rochester Street Akron, Indiana.
