Estel H. Flenner, 102, of Peru, Indiana, formerly of Denver and Rochester

Estel H. Flenner, 102, of Peru, Indiana, and formerly of Denver and Rochester, went to be with Jesus with family by his side at 12:30 pm, Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2023 at Blair Ridge Health Campus of Peru.
 
Estel was born on Oct. 12, 1920 in Fulton County, Indiana to the late Fayne and Edna (Berger) Flenner. He was a 1938 graduate of Gilead High School, where he played basketball for the Wildcats. He married on Dec. 21, 1940 in Peru, Indiana to Edna Mae Lane, she preceded him in death on July 23, 1988.  He then married on Oct. 12, 1990 in Anderson, Indiana to Opal Hartzler Kamp, she also preceded him on Jan. 10, 2009.
 
He served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during WWII, stationed in the Pacific Theater. Estel worked for 42 years in the grain and feed business.  He retired from the Lafayette Co-op Elevator Company. Estel also worked for the Hardware in Denver and the Fulton County Airport. He attended First Church of God of Rochester for many years.  He was a member of the Fulton County Farm Bureau. He loved traveling and wintered with his wife Opal in Florida. Estel was very humble about his military service, he was honored to be a part of an Honor Flight to Washington, D.C. He enjoyed reading western books and the Bible, crossword puzzles, and had a sweet tooth.
 
He is survived by his son Jeffrey and wife Ladele Flenner of Ft. Walton Beach, Florida; step children Linda and husband Eldon Redinger of Rochester, Noel and wife Judy Kamp of Rochester, Jeff and wife Cindi Kamp of Avon, and Neil and wife Pat Kamp of Rochester; nieces Amy and husband Douglas Robison of Peru, Cindy husband Richard Walker of Columbia City, and Julie and husband Ted Jones of Little River, South Carolina; and many grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren.
 
Estel was preceded in death by his parents, his wives Edna Mae and Opal, daughter Martha “Nancy” Miller, brother Donald and Galen Flenner, and nephew Thomas Flenner.
 
The funeral service will take place at 11:00 am, Monday, Aug. 28, 2023 at Hartzler Funeral Home 305 West Rochester Street Akron, Indiana with Rev. Wayne Balmer officiating. Military rites will also be held at the funeral home.
 
The interment will take place following the service in the Westlawn Cemetery, Denver, Indiana.
 
Visitation hours will be held from 10 am to 11 am, Monday, Aug. 28, 2023 at Hartzler Funeral Home, Akron, Indiana.

Memorial contributions can be made in his memory to the Honor Flight Northeast.
