Daniel R. “Danny” Ashby, 67, of rural Akron, passed surrounded by family at 8:45 pm, Thursday, Sept. 7, 2023 at his residence.
 
Danny was born on Aug. 28, 1956 in Warsaw, Indiana to the late Charles Foster and Virginia Marie (Ellis) Ashby. He was a 1974 graduate of Tipton High School. He married on March 5, 1977 in Claypool, Indiana to Betty Shriver, she survives.

He worked for Wabash Valley Manufacturing of Silver Lake for over 30 years, retiring as a scheduler. He loved riding his Harley and working on homes, cars, and lawn mowers. He also enjoyed driving his Amish friends around the area. Danny and his wife enjoyed camping, hiking, bonfires, and all things outdoors. But most of all, he loved spending time with his grandkids and great grandkids.
 
Danny is survived by his wife Betty Ashby of Akron; children Brenda and husband Brian Yoder of North Manchester, Dawn and husband Charles Poe of Akron, Thomas and wife Samantha Ashby of Rochester; grandchildren Bryanna, Devon, Zachary, Kara, Bailey, Harley, and Zeke; numerous Great Grandchildren; brothers Steve Ashby of Fort Wayne, Glen Ashby of Florida, Bobby Ashby of Warsaw, John Ashby of Bargersville, and Edgar and wife Carol Ashby of California; and sisters Helen and husband Tony Middleton of Silver Lake, Teri and husband Tony Monce of Silver Lake, Janine and husband Troy Hoskins of Warsaw, and Sandy and husband David Smith of Elyria, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Ronald Lee Ashby, and father and mother-in-law Milo and Saraetta Shriver.
 
Following his wishes no services will be held at this time. There will be a private family gathering in his memory at a later date.
 
The arrangements have been entrusted to Hartzler Funeral Home 305 West Rochester Street Akron, Indiana.
