Tina Irene Burkett VanSpeybroeck, 60, of Rochester

Tina Irene Burkett VanSpeybroeck, 60, of Rochester, went home to be with Jesus. She was surrounded by her loving family when she passed  at 7:15 PM on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at Woodlawn Hospital.

On April 11, 1963, Tina Irene Burkett was born in Crawfordsville to James David and Jane Louise Crosby Burkett. Growing up she shared her childhood with a sister, Mary Lou and two brothers, David and Paul. Proudly she graduated with the Class of 1982 from Wawasee High School in Syracuse. She continued her education at Indiana University of Kokomo.

Over the years, Tina was a truck driving professional and enjoyed road trips on dedicated routes to the east coast and the mid west.  As a crafter, Tina made beautiful blankets and baby hats by hand looming. The warm hats were given to the parents of newborns at Woodlawn Hospital. She also made a variety of wall art designs with her diamond painting projects.

Tina cherished time with her family. MeMaw loved to be with Kinley and Averie.  Everyday she took the girls to school and picked them up and was a part of their daily activities.  As the master of her kitchen, Tina prepared delicious meals and treats for her family and friends. Her cooking was a gift to the world.

Reading her Bible throughout the day brought her peace and comfort. It was her way of life.  Tina was a “ Tell me about my Jesus” lady.  She was not shy about sharing her faith in her Jesus!

Left to cherish Tina's memory are her daughter, Sarah Reynolds and husband Cody of Akron, two granddaughters, Kinley Grace and Averie Jane; father James Burkett of Scottsburg, sister Mary Lou Swanson of Rochester, two brothers, David John Burkett and wife Ann of Plainfield, Paul Burkett of Warsaw; two canine companions, Kahlua a white Chihuahua and Izzie a tan Chihuahua and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding Tina in death is her mother, Jane Burkett on January 30, 2020.
