Nancy Lebo Clay, 90, of Rochester

Nancy Lebo Clay, 90, of Rochester, passed away at 7:45 PM on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at Woodbridge Health Campus of Logansport.

On November 16, 1933, Nancy Jean Hopper was born in Rochester to Alfred L. and Ruth E. Barts Hopper. She was the fourth of a family of seven children. Proudly she graduated with the Class of 1952 from Rochester High School.

Nancy and Gordon V. Lebo were married on September 4,1953 in Rochester. They shared 41 years of life’s adventures. Sadly, he passed away on August 11, 1994.  From their union came three children, Gayle, Garrick “Gary” and Gordon “Mike”.

On September 29, 1996, Nancy and Richard Clay were married at the First Christian Church. He passed away on July 3, 2018.

As a homemaker, Nancy cherished the time with her family.  She often prepared her famous chicken and noodles for family gatherings. Being community minded, Nancy volunteered for the Fulton County Blood Drives and the Trail of Courage. She made her delicious chocolate chip cookies and meals for her co-workers. Her memberships include the First Christian Church of Rochester and the Kappa Delta Phi Sorority for 50 plus years.  Over the years, Nancy was a card shark, she showed her hand while playing Euchre and Bridge around the table with her friends.

Cruising international waters were enjoyed with friends, Mary and Wayne Alber.  Nancy also traveled to Dubai twice to visit her grandson.

Left to cherish the memories of Nancy are daughter, Gayle Rodriguez of Rochester; two sons: Gary Lebo and lifelong friend Kelly Shambarger of Middletown, OH; Mike Lebo and wife Sue of Greenburg; eight grandchildren:  Abygayle, Jacob, Jenifer, Stacy, Stephanie, Garrett, Gwendolyn, Michaila; five great grandchildren:  Peyton, Ebony, Bryant, Darius, Abraham; sister Barbara Swihart of Rochester; blended family members: Vince Stewart and companion Gretchen Hart of Rochester, Tony Stewart and wife Chim of Kokomo, Libby Mayes and husband Dan of Martinsville, David Clay of Terre Haute; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding Nancy in death are her parents, husband, son-in-law Mark Rodriguez, four sisters: Carol Hedrick, Kay Payne, Martha West, Dortha Eads and a brother Garl Hopper.

A celebration of the life of Nancy Clay will be at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, January 3, 2024, in the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 West 18th St., Rochester.

Friends may visit with the family from 10-12 on Wednesday in the funeral home.

Interment will be in the Rochester IOOF Cemetery.
