Gretchen C. Walter 66, Rochester, Indiana, passed away at 3:54 P.M. Monday, January 1, 2024 at her residence.

She was born on April 20, 1957 in Rochester, Indiana, the daughter of Eugene and Annabelle (Swan) Hart.

Gretchen was a 1975 Rochester High School graduate and attended Indiana State University. She worked for Rochester Sentinel as a Sales Representative and for the Shopping Guide News. Previously, she was employed with Hardesty Printing and had owned and operated Hometown Cleaners.

Gretchen had been a member of the Community Presbyterian Church and enjoyed shopping, watching western movies, puzzles and collecting antiques.

Survivors include her son, Christopher Walter, Greenwood, Indiana, companion, Vince Stewart, Rochester, Indiana, uncle, Jim (Kathy) Cross, Valparaiso, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Christopher Elsworth Hart.

Services will be conducted at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 6, 2024 at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home Rochester, Indiana.

Friends may visit from 4:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Friday and one hour prior to service Saturday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in the Citizens Cemetery, Rochester, Indiana.

Memorial contributions may be made to Community Presbyterian Community Church or to the Fulton County Animal Adoption and Education Center.
