Lowell C. Hisey, 90, of Rochester

Lowell C. Hisey, 90, of Rochester, passed away at 5:06 AM on Sunday, January 7, 2024 at Parkview Hospital of Fort Wayne.

 

On December 24, 1933, Lowell Hisey was born in Fulton County, near Talma to James Wilfred and Sadie Catherine Young Hisey.  Proudly he graduated with the Class of 1951 from Talma High School, where he earned the honor of being Salutatorian. Answering the call of patriotism, Lowell served on the USS Valley Forge with the U.S. Navy and was honorably discharged in 1957.

 

Lowell and Shirley A. Redman were married on April 27, 1960 in Bourbon. They have shared 63 years of life's adventures. From their union came two daughters and two sons. The family tree continued to grow with the blessings of five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

 

Lowell began his career as a clerk at the Rochester Post Office and later became a carrier. He served our community for 33 years. Lowell was a member of a Euchre Club, that included family and friends. He also enjoyed the area golf courses and throwing horse shoes. Nothing was better than rolling strikes at the bowling alley.  The Hisey’s loved to camp. One of their favorite places was Potato Creek. While there, they loved to watch the wildlife, feed and observe the birds.

 

Left to cherish Lowell’s memory are his wife Shirley of Rochester; daughter, Debra Baumgartner and husband Jay of Warsaw; son, Mark Hisey and wife Kathy of Fort Wayne; five grandchildren, Lauren Reining and husband Mike, Matthew Hisey, Ryan Baumgartner and wife Anne, Eric Baumgartner, Kyle Baumgartner; three  great grandchildren, Drayke Reining, Parker Reining, Asher Baumgartner and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Preceding Lowell in death are his parents, daughter, Jeri Lynn Hisey April 9, 1968 at the age of 5, son, Brent M. Hisey on May 30, 2019, sister Chloa Mae Hisey, five Hisey brothers, one year old Glen, Dale, Gerald, Doyle and Keith.

 

A celebration of the life of Lowell Hisey will be at 12 noon on Friday, January 12, 2024 in the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 West 18th St., Rochester.   Friends may visit with the family from 10-12 on Friday in the funeral home.

 

Interment will be in the Rochester IOOF Cemetery.
