Phyllis J. Lemmon 89, Lucerne, Indiana

Phyllis J. Lemmon 89, Lucerne, Indiana, passed away at 7:02 P.M. Friday, April 5, 2024 at her residence.

She was born on November 18, 1934 in Kokomo, Indiana, the daughter of Alvin and Stella (Heinemann) Butler. On December 21, 1952 in Logansport, Indiana she married Howard C. Lemmon. He preceded her in death on October 11, 1996.

Phyllis retired from Federal Mogul, Logansport, Indiana in 1996 and had worked on the family farm with her husband. She had been a member of the Fletcher’s Lake Church, attending there for over seventy years and loved belonging to the Ladies Aid Society and served on many committees. She loved gardening, mowing her yard, and doing cross word puzzles. She crocheted many baby hats and donated the majority to Logansport Hospital where she spent thousands of hours volunteering. She was always ready for lunch with her siblings. She could often be found spending time on her deck talking to her dogs and enjoying the flowers in her yard. Phyllis had a great love of Nativity Sets, collecting over a thousand sets from all over the world. Her children and grandchildren would often bring her back Nativity sets from their travels around the world including from Iraq, Germany and even the Vatican.

Survivors include her four children, Richard Lemmon, Red Oak, Texas, Jane (Rich) Herbst, Austin, Texas, Susan (Cliff) Kinzer, Auburn, Indiana, William Lemmon, Lucerne, Indiana, four grandchildren, Emily Herbst, Austin, Texas, Adrianne (Cory) Scanlon, Cedar Park, Texas, Kevin Kinzer, Augusta, Georgia, Craig (Jessica) Kinzer, Auburn, Indiana, great grandchildren, Adaleigh Rain Kinzer, James Jillian Scanlon, Charlotte Helen Scanlon, brothers, Harry (Vicki) Butler, Logansport, Indiana, Paul (Brenda) Butler, Cutler, Indiana, step-brother, Gerald Dillman, Delphi, Indiana, sisters-in-laws, Betty Muinzer, Lucerne, Indiana, Jean Gilbertson, Renton, Washington, Mary Butler, Beaufort, South Carolina, several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters and spouses, Linda (Benny) Magnett, Sue (Ed) Wyrick, Rose (Don) Lemmon, brother, Robert Butler, step-siblings, Kenneth Dillman, Dallas Dillman, Richard Dillman, Myron Dillman, Jana Culp and step-mother, Lucille Plank Dillman Butler.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, April 13, 2024, at Zimmerman Bros. Funeral Home, Rochester, Indiana, with Rev. Dave Sommers officiating.

Friends may visit from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Friday and one hour prior to service Saturday at the funeral home.

Burial will be in the Fulton Cemetery, Fulton, Indiana.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Fletcher’s Lake Church.
