Roger W. Vigar 67, Rochester, Indiana, passed away at 10:49 P.M. Saturday, April 25, 2020, at Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester, Indiana.

He was born on November 11, 1952 in Rochester, Indiana, the son of Orville C. and Regina (Burns) Vigar. On September 7, 1974 in Rochester, Indiana, he married Deb Wynn and she survives.

Mr. Vigar had been a life -long farmer. He enjoyed restoring tractors, spending time with his grandchildren, especially attending their sports and 4-H events.

Survivors include his wife, Deb Vigar, Rochester, Indiana, son, Steven (Tammy) Vigar, Rochester, daughter, Jo (Dave) Clark, grandchildren, Emily Vigar, Caleb Vigar, Grant Clark and Mitchell Clark, all of Rochester, Indiana, brother, James L. “Jim” (Patricia) Vigar, Madeira, California. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Bonnie Keele and brother-in-law, Ronald Keele.

Brandon M. “Bopper” Edington 41, Argos, Indiana, passed away at 9:33 A.M. Sunday, April 26, 2020, at his residence.

He was born on March 7, 1979 in Rochester, Indiana, the son of Carl R. and Sharon (Miller) Edington.

Brandon had worked in the Recreational vehicle industry for Gulfstream for many years. In his spare time he loved to draw, listen to music and spend time with his children and family.

Steve M. Sopher, 63, Denver, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2020, at Indiana University Medical Center, Indianapolis.

Born January 3, 1957, in Peru, Indiana, he was the son of James Clifford Sopher, Sr., and the former Bonnie Dorette Dickerhoff.  

On October 10, 1976, at the Mississinewa Reservoir, he was married to Stephanie Elaine Adkins, and she survives.  

He was the owner/operator of Sopher’s Body Shop in rural Denver.  He was an avid coin collector and enjoyed camping and restoring old cars.  

Survivors include one son, Steven Mark (Sue Ellen) Sopher II, Peru; one daughter, Tiffany Yvonne (Philip) McBride, Denver; five granddaughters, Lilian Rose McBride, Isabella Grace McBride, Hannah Lenay Hicks, Lulu Eleanore Elaine McBride, and Ireland Michelle McBride; two grandsons, Kain Alexander Sopher, and Oliver Mark McBride; four brothers, Jim Sopher, Frank Sopher, Mike (Dianna) Sopher and Jeff (Beth) Sopher; one sister, Sandy (Pat) York; and mother-in-law, Marilyn Adkins, Converse.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Sopher and Bonnie (Jim) Washburn; an infant brother; one sister, Rose Marie Sopher; and father-in-law, Charles Adkins.

Raymond D. Engle, 96, of Kewanna, was surrounded by his loving family members at his daughter’s home when he passed away in the early morning hours of Friday, April 24, 2020.

On Christmas Day, 1923, Raymond Dean Engle was born to Arthur and Mable McCartney Engle in Converse, Indiana. He was 1942 graduate of Kewanna High School.

Raymond was a WW II Army veteran. He fought with the infantry during the Battle of the Philippines, and served in Japan after the end of the war.

On April 1, 1944, Raymond was married to Almeda Sopher in Kewanna, Indiana. Two children were born to their union. Their son, Terry, was born in 1947. Their daughter, Sherry, was born in 1949.

After returning from the war, Raymond found employment at Studebaker in South Bend. He and Almeda purchased land from his father and built a home by the dam at Lake Bruce. During the 1950's he owned and operated a Cities Service station in Leiters Ford.  He also drove the school bus for Aubbeenaubbee  during that time.

With a strong work ethic and diverse interests, Raymond was later self-employed in a sand and gravel business, a ready mix business, a garage in Rochester, a body shop, a wrecker service,  diesel mechanic at Deeds Equipment, and maintaining refrigeration units at Deans Milk.  He later is remembered as a  mechanic at Hammel Chrysler Plymouth and head mechanic at the Fulton County Highway Department.

Paramount in Ray's life was his family.  As the patriarch of the Engle family he was proud to oversee five generations. Family gatherings for birthdays, holidays and other family celebrations brought on many wonderful memories.  To relax he enjoyed tinkering around the garage and and meeting the challenges repairing things no one else could fix.  Raymond also enjoyed fishing and spending his winters in Florida.

Survivors include his daughter, Sherry (John) Anderson of Kewanna, and his son, Terry Engle of Sebring, FL: Grandchildren: Nesha (Tracy) Skarbek of Richland, Iowa. Cary Guyer of Akron, and Dr. Jesse Engle of Tucson, AZ; great-grandchildren: Matthew (Allyson) Hayes of Rochester, Bailey Skarbek of Richland, Iowa, Tyler Skarbek and companion Trent Bauters of West Allis, WI, Jessie (Cody) Mooneyhan of Kewanna, Cary Guyer Jr. of Fulton, and Kailey Engle of Tucson, AZ; six great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Raymond was preceded in death by his parents Arthur and Mabel Engle; beloved wife, Almeda (1994);  brother, Bernard Engle (1990); grandson, Sean McDaniel (2001); and his companion, Ruth Talbott (2018).

We look forward to a celebration of the life of Mr. Raymond D. Engle which will be held at a future date in the Good Family Funeral Home.  Full military honors will be conveyed by the Fulton County Veteran's Honor Guard and the United States Army.

Donald R. Hughes 82, Rochester, Indiana, passed away at 1:27 A.M. Tuesday, April 21, 2020 at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana, Fort Wayne, Indiana.

He was born on February 24, 1938, in Altoona, Pennsylvania, the son of Harold Walter and Alice Mae (Kiser) Hughes. On April 12, 1976 in Tawas City, Michigan, he married Judy Mullins and she survives.

In 1957 he graduated from Scotland (Pennsylvania) School for Veteran's Children.

Mr. Hughes was a Vietnam War veteran having served with United States Air Force for over twenty eight years retiring as Senior Master Sargent.  He had worked for the Grissom Redevelopment Authority in Bunker Hill for many years. His service time with the Air Force also included over ten years of foreign service and numerous decorations, citations, medals, badges and campaign ribbons.  After retirement he enjoyed traveling with Judy, spending time working in his yard and was an avid sports fan.

Annamarie “Annie” Fagner, 66, of Winamac, IN passed away at 4:41 AM Tuesday, April 21, 2020 at Franciscan Health Hospital in Lafayette, IN.  She was born on August 2, 1953 in East Gary, IN to the late Otto E. and Marie Ann Burden Ritter, Jr.  Annie graduated from Winamac High School in 1971.  On July 28, 1973, she married the late Marshall R. Fagner at the Ripley Gospel Chapel in Ripley, IN.  He passed away on July 7, 2008.

Annie was a devoted member of Bethel Bible Church in Winamac.  She served on the Mission’s Committee and went on several mission trips.  She also served the Youth Ministry and was instrumental in Wednesday night Simple Suppers.  Annie was a founding member of the Pulaski County Quilts of Valor and found joy in making quilts for local veterans.  She actively supported Riley Children’s Hospital by making pillow cases.  Most recently, Annie had been making face masks for local residents in need. 

Annie retired from Eastern Pulaski Elementary School as head cook of the cafeteria.  Following retirement, she fulfilled a lifelong dream when she opened Just Plain Annie’s Quilt and Fabric Shop in Winamac.

Annie enjoyed quilting, kayaking, and bike riding.  More than anything, she loved her family.  She supported her sons in all that they did and adored her grandchildren.  Annie will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Russell Dean "Russ" Carr  age 95 of Rochester was surrounded by his loving family when he passed away at 10:36 PM on April 18, 2020 at Wynnfield Crossing.

On August 19, 1924, Russell D. Carr was born in Rochester to Harley and Clara Grey Carr.  Russ was the youngest of six, joining four brothers Weldon, Byron, Robert, Howard and a sister Bernice Carr Hoffman.  Growing up he was known as "Dean." He enjoyed showing beef cattle in 4-H, walking to town to go to the movies and playing the clarinet with the Rochester High School band, until graduation in 1942.

As a member of the United States Navy,  Russ served our country during World War II.  He was a quartermaster on the   USS  LST  899 from 1944 - 1946.  Russ was very accomplished in Morse Code.

Russ and Alice “Lee” Showley were married on August 2, 1947. They shared 24 years of life’s adventures. They were the proud parents of five children, Cheryl, Larry, Karen, Jan and Lorena.  Sadly, Lee passed away on November 14, 1971.

On April 24, 1973, Russ married Joan Milord.  After over 22 years together she passed away on September 22, 2005.

With a strong work ethic, and many diverse interests Russ worked for the Erie Railroad, at the tomato station for the health inspector, Studebakers, Stineberger Constructions, Interstate Piping Co., and was the owner of the Kibtzer in Kewanna.

Gifted with his hands, Russ was a talented woodworker making numerous special "heirloom gifts," for family and special friends. From toy boxes, to cradles, end tables,  picture frames a grandfather's clock and gun cabinet each piece was custom built to specifications with lots of love in his heart for his family to cherish and hand down to the next generation.

Russ was a member of the Manitou Veterans of Foreign Wars # 1343 and the Eagles Lodge, both of Rochester. He enjoyed reading multiple daily newspapers, watching NASCAR, the Colts, Indiana University and  Purdue University.  Russ  rooted for any team playing against Notre Dame.

Left to cherish the memories of Russ are three daughters: Karen Boldry and husband Phil of Macy, Jan Futrell of Rochester, Lorena Fields and husband Darrell of Kewanna; son-in-law, Gerry Hizer of Kewanna; daughter-in-law, Pam Carr Dowell of Rochester; 13 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; and very special nieces and nephews: Patricia Joan Clary of Rochester, Art Hoffman and wife Lela of Rochester and Bill Hoffman of Florida.

Preceding Russ in death are his parents Harley and Clara Carr; wives Lee and Joan; his oldest daughter, Cheryl Jean Hizer on November 2, 2004; his only son Larry James Carr on December 20, 2013; and his siblings.  

Private family services will be held on Tuesday in the Good Family Funeral Home.  It will be live streamed at 11:00 AM on the dedicated Facebook page JD Good. Amber Lucinda Halterman Dyson, 43, Akron, Indiana, passed away at 12:45 p.m. on Friday, April 17, 2020, at her residence.

She was born on May 22, 1976, in Rochester, Indiana, the daughter of Gary Halterman and the former Deanna Rensberger.  

Amber was a 1994 graduate of North Miami High School.  She graduated from Vincennes University and worked at Community Howard Hospital in Kokomo as a respiratory therapist (RRT/RPFT).

Toni Suzanne Click, 42, Denver, Passed away at 7:45 a.m. on Sunday, April 19, 2020, at her residence. 

Born July 18, 1977, at Wabash County Hospital, she was the daughter of Randy J. and Barbara Beals Click. 

Toni was a 1997 graduate of North Miami High School. She was a member of Denver Baptist Church.  She was known for her sunny disposition, friendly smile, and her warm loving hugs.

In addition to her parents, Randy and Barb Click, Denver, she is survived by one brother, Bryan W. Click, Denver; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. 

She was preceded in death by her grandparents and one sister, Shelly Suesakul.

Patricia Irene Lytle, 82 of Rochester, passed away at 10:25 AM on Sunday, April 19, 2020 at Woodlawn Hospital.

On February 14, 1938, Patricia was born in Winamac to Harry and Wilma Irene  Kersey Henry.   She graduated from Thornton High School of Harvey, IL.

Patricia and James David Lytle were married in Cook County, IL in 1960.

Most will remember Pat’s cheerful disposition as she waited on you at the local Dollar General. Reading mysteries and suspense books and the love of playing BINGO were always enjoyed. Pat was a member of the Women of the Moose since 2006.

Left to cherish the memories of Patricia are two daughters, Pam Lytle of Beecher, IL, Patty Lytle-Kline of Cameron, WI, son James “Jim” Lytle and wife Terrie of Warsaw; four grandchildren, James, Jolene, Samantha, Haley; two sisters, Sandy Bloom  of Rochester, Peggy Parzygnot and husband Stan of Leesburg; brother, Donald Henry and wife Mary of Crown Point and several nieces and nephews.

Dorothy A. “Dot” Kruger, 86, of Ft. Wayne, IN (formerly of Lafayette, IN) went home to be with the Lord at 3:43 AM on Easter Sunday, April 12, 2020.  She passed away peacefully at The Hearth at Sycamore Village in Ft. Wayne.  Dorothy was born on August 4, 1933 in Francesville, IN to the late Herman W. Kruger and Matha C. Popp Kruger.  She graduated from Francesville High School.  Dorothy was a retired presser having spent her life working for several dry cleaning companies.

In her younger years, Dorothy was an active member of Pulaski County 4-H and the Rural Youth Club.  She was confirmed at St. James Church and was a longtime member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ in Lafayette.  Dorothy dedicated her life to compiling her family’s genealogy.  

Dorothy was a loving sister and aunt.  She will be sadly missed.  The family wishes to thank the staff at Sycamore Village for their kindness and care.

Kathy Lynn Furnivall 60, Rochester, Indiana, passed away at 5:51 A.M. Friday, April 10, 2020, surrounded by her loving family at her residence.

She was born on July 15, 1959 in Rochester, Indiana, the daughter of Gilbert E. and Betty L. (Wentzel) Weller. On July 23, 1977 at the Rochester Church of God, she married the love of her life, Rick Furnivall and he survives.

Kathy was known for her hard work ethic. She had worked at Federal Mogul, Blockbuster Video Store and was employed by the Braun Corporation in Winamac, Indiana. She was a faithful member of the Rochester Church of God where she enjoyed worshiping and singing. Kathy could always be seen and heard at her grandsons various sporting events. Kathys favorite pastime was listening to her son, James, play the guitar.

Survivors include her husband, Rick Furnivall, Rochester, Indiana, sons, James (Alicia) Furnivall, Peru, Indiana, Jeff (Ashley) Furnivall, Rochester, Indiana, grandchildren, Braydn Furnivall, Camdyn Furnivall, Landyn Furnivall, all of Rochester, Indiana, sister, Tonia Weller and husband Michael Kenny, Rochester, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her mother, Betty Weller in 2011 and her father, Gilbert Weller in 2008.

Ginger Vigar Caswell-Govett, 57, formerly of Rochester, was surrounded by her loving family when passed away on Thursday, April 9, 2020 at her residence in California.  This followed a 5 year valiant  battle with cancer.

On July 7, 1962, Ginger Marie Vigar was born in Kosciusko County.  She was a treasured daughter of  Jimmy and Patricia A. Holloway Vigar. Growing up she shared her childhood with a sister, Shelli.  Ginger graduated from Caston High School.  She continued her education at Indiana University at Kokomo earning an associates degree in criminal justice.  She also  attended  Denver Baptist Bible College studying general education and Bible studies.

After spending most of her life in Fulton County, Ginger moved to California and working in real estate as a broker for the London Properties Group.  On July 30, 2008, Ginger married Melvin Wayne Govett at a Methodist Church  near Carmel-By-The-Sea, California.  She was a member of the Grace Community Church in Madera, CA.  Devoted to her church she was a member of the "Good News Club," working at after-school programs bringing the news of the Bible and presenting activities to her students.  She also deeply involved teaching the  AWANA groups at church

Left to cherish Ginger's memory  are a  son Steven Caswell and wife Sherri of  Westfield; husband, Melvin W. Govett; a step-daughter Amie Baker and husband Harold of Coarse Gold, CA;  2 grandchildren:  Lily and Riley; 3 step-grandchildren:  Jadon, Jasmine and Ashley; parents, Jim and Patricia Vigar of  Madera, California; a  sister, Shelli Freeman and husband Dan of  Manhattan, Montana; and  several nieces and nephews.

Ricardo “Richie” Montalvo 79, Rochester, Indiana, passed away at 3:05 A.M. Tuesday, April 7, 2020, peacefully at home with family by his side after a declining health issue.

He was born on November 2, 1940 in El Paso, Texas, the son of Salvador and Guadalupe (Rangel) Montalvo. Richie had many jobs in his lifetime. He was a machinist for over thirty years. He worked at Torrington, A.M. General, Bertran Products and retired from Bosch Industries in 2003. He was an avid golfer. In 1992, he won the Mishawaka Senior Metro Golf Tournament. He loved playing golf at the Round Barn Golf Course with his friends.

After a five year courtship, Richie and Suzie (Zwierzynski) Borton were married on September 27, 1985. Almost forty years in a special loving and caring relationship. After Richie retired, a move from Mishawaka to Rochester was inevitable to live full time on Lake Manitou. Richie quickly made friends and met his golfing partner’s in crime. Richie was the most giving thoughtful husband, stern but loving father and loyal good friend to many. He was a handy-man of all trades; buildings, remodeling, landscaping, cooking, and creative mastermind of Boat Parades. (Covered wagon with two horses and a helicopter to name a few.) He was a cat whisperer, stray cats found their way to him and became house kitties. God and family came first with him. He will be deeply missed.

Richie is survived by his wife, Suzie Montalvo, Rochester, Indiana, daughter, Tina (David) Roe, Rochester, Indiana, son, Joseph Borton, South Bend, Indiana, and grandson, Brendon (Sheridan) Roe, Lafayette, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents, Salvador & Guadalupe Montalvo, son, Ricky Montalvo Jr., and a sister and many many furry friends.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Fulton County Animal Adoption and Education Center, 1540 Wentzel Street, Rochester, Indiana, as he loved all animals.

Denise L. “Sis” Buck 65, Fulton, Indiana, passed away at 11:58 A.M. Monday April 6, 2020 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center, Mishawaka, Indiana.

She was born on May 6, 1954 in Indianapolis, Indiana, the daughter, of James F. and Rosella (Sachs) House.

Sis had been a homemaker. She had been a member of the Eagles Lodge, past madam President in Logansport, Indiana.  Her life centered around her family and friends. She always made time for the kids. Every niece and nephew can share countless treasured moments of the Great and Crazy Aunt Sissy. She was a wonderful resource for kids of all ages to spill their problems; Sis always had an ear to lend and advice to give. As a grandmother, Sis taught her grandkids to use their imagination to tell stories and spent hours sharing their tales. She enjoyed singing and even landed a few spots on Captain Crunch radio show to sing Loretta Lynn, Anne Murray, and Patsy Cline songs. Sissy was the life of the party and loved with every bit of her soul.

Survivors include her children, Olivia (Russell) Taff of Winamac, James “Jimmy” (Rebecca) Buck of Twelve Mile, grandchildren, Cecilia Anne Kenney, Rose Cherie Taff, both of Winamac, Scarlett Maelynn Buck, Jasper Adelaide Buck, both of Twelve Mile, brothers, David (Karen) House of Fortville, Douglas (Judy) House of Indianapolis. Nieces and nephews, Cathy, Christine, Lori, Jason, Angie, Whitney, and her beloved “adopted” Campbell sisters.

She was preceded in death by her infant son, Daniel Simpson Buck, grandson, Russell Clayton Taff III, brother, Danny House, sister-in-law, Anna Marie House and her parents.

Olivia Dorothy Kleine, 95, of Rochester, passed away at 2:35 AM on Wednesday, April 8, 2020, at Life Care Center of Rochester.

On April 15, 1924, in Maple Leaf, SD, Olivia was born to Gottlieb and Dora Klaudt Ruede.

Olivia is lovingly remembered by three children including Gloria Cox and husband Nelson of Rochester and Ernest Floyd and wife Rosie of Greenville, Alabama; ten grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; four great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding Olivia in death are her parents, husband, son Jack A. Floyd on August 5, 2006; great grandson Jacob M. Goodman on May 11, 2019;  two sisters and 2 brothers.

Memorial services will be held at a later date.

Interment will be in the Athens Cemetery.

Betty McGowen 94, Rochester, Indiana, passed away at 12:55 P.M. Sunday April 5, 2020, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Culver, Indiana.

She was born on February 13, 1926 in Kosciusko County, Indiana, the daughter of Elvan E. and Marie O. (Sutherlin) Snyder. On May 18, 1952, in South Bend, Indiana, she married Merle McGowen of Talma, Indiana. He preceded her in death on January 9, 2015.

Mrs. McGowen was a graduate of the International School of Business, Fort Wayne, Indiana and had formerly worked at the Times Theater, Public Service Indiana and for Topps Manufacturing in Rochester. She had been a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Talma Church, T.H.E. Home Extension Club, Fulton County Mental Health Association, Evergreen Rebekah Lodge and for many years sang with the Fulton County Chorus. She was a devoted mother and homemaker, loved gardening, crafting and scrap booking.

Survivors include her sons, Col. (Ret.) Michael P. (Janie) McGowen, Scipio, Indiana, David L. (Karen) McGowen, Rochester, Indiana, grandchildren, LTC Matthew (Laura) McGowen, Jennifer (SSG David) Herr, great grandchildren, Michael, Landon and Ryan Charles McGowen, June, Mikaela and Eliana Smith and Chloe and Clark Herr. She was preceded in death by her parents and sister, Joyce (James) Thomas.

Private services will be observed. A public Celebration of Life memorial service will be announced for a later date. Burial will be in the Hamlet Cemetery, Talma, Indiana. Timothy D. Girton, 64, of Winamac passed away unexpectedly at 2:55 p.m., Monday, April 6, 2020 at Parkview Hospital in Ft. Wayne.

Born on May 2, 1955 in Logansport. He was the son of the late
Donald D. and E. Virginia (Earhart) Girton.

Tim was raised in Winamac Indiana and graduated with the class of
1973 from Winamac Community High School.

On October 25, 1980 he married Debora A. Ingram.

He worked at McNabney farms in Medaryville Indiana for the past 32
years. Tim was amazing at his job as a farmer and had a passion for working the
ground, being a master mechanic, and raising livestock.  

Tim was an avid life-long Chicago Cubs fan and American history
buff. He had a keen eye and would often coach others on the hobbies he was
passionate about including golf, bowling and fishing. Later in life, he
focused on family and his grandchildren to create additional memories for
them to treasure. Tim’s children and grandchildren were the light of his life
and was a very proud man with all of their accomplishments in life. There was
not one single thing Tim wouldn’t do for his family and those who he loved
dearly. If you could absorb something from his life it would be this: Be kind.
Be honest. Work Hard. Live life to the fullest and spend time with the ones you
love. 

Survivors include his wife, Debora “Debbie” Girton of Winamac,
daughter Christina M. Harper of Plymouth, son Jeffrey A. Girton of
Indianapolis, brother Douglas A. Girton (Deidre) of Francesville, sister Debra
L. Budd of Winamac and grandchildren, Alexander Timothy Harper and Mallory
Rene` Harper both of Plymouth. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother Stephen Girton, and
brother-in-law Alfred “Pete” Budd.

Due to current government restrictions on large gatherings, a
celebration of Tim’s life will be postponed until a later date.

Vincent J. Cavallaro, 46, of Fulton passed away at 4:51 PM on Monday, April 6, 2020 at Logansport Memorial Hospital.

On June 22, 1973, Vince was born in Park Ridge, IL to Joseph and Eleanor Loffredi Cavallaro.  Growing up he shared his childhood with his sister Victoria.  In 1991 Vince graduated from Main East High School of Park Ridge, IL.

Left to cherish Vince's memory are his sister, Victoria Zellers and husband Dustin  and nephew Anthony Peterson all of Rochester.  Preceding him in death are his parents Joseph and Eleanor Cavallaro and his treasured canine companion Boston Terrier, Fredo.

Betty L.  Conrad, 78, of Argos, passed away at 11:45 AM, Monday, April 6, 2020 at Millers Merry Manor of Plymouth.

In Logansport, on November 5, 1941, Betty was born to Willard Leeroy and Mildred Osborn Razer.  She was one of nine children.

Betty and Daniel Milo Conrad were married on July 16, 1960 in Rochester. They shared 41 years of life’s adventures.

With a strong work ethic, Betty worked in production at Torin Corporation of Rochester for many years. To relax she enjoyed pontooning on beautiful Lake Manitou. She was an avid fisherman and enjoyed the outdoors. Throughout her life, BINGO was a favorite pastime.  She was skilled with the game,  always a big winner.  Betty enjoyed socializing with her family and many friends.

Left to cherish Betty's memory are  her daughter, Ruth K. Milliser and husband Ron of Argos; two granddaughters, Jennifer Vires and husband Jake of Talma, Sandra Berg and husband Mark of Rochester; two great-grandsons, Jeremiah and Isaac.; one brother, John Razer,  of Logansport.

Bertha Green, 83, of Rochester, was surrounded by her loving family when she passed away at 3:35 PM, Thursday, April 2, 2020 at her residence.

On November 14, 1936, Bertha was born in DeMotte.  She was a treasured daughter of  Theodore and Florence Swearinga Klemp.

A homemaker, Bertha cherished time spent with her family.

Bertha will be lovingly remembered by daughter, Diane Klemp of Gary; three sons: Sonny Turbyfill and companion Barbara Eastwood of Rochester, Allen Green of Tucson, AZ, and Jeff Green and wife Tina of Portage; two grandsons: Tristin Eastwood and Taylor Green; and a sister, Beverly Gann.  

Private family services will be observed to celebrate Bertha's life. 

Connie Sue Loehmer, 56, of Monterey, IN passed away peacefully on April 2, 2020 with her family by her side.

She was the youngest of 3 children, born March 3, 1964 in Knox, IN. She graduated mid-term from Knox High School class of 1982. She married the love of her life, Maurice Loehmer, on April 17, 1982. Together they had two children, Adam, 36, and Ashley, 32.

Connie knew how to love and care for others deeply. She left imprints on many people’s lives by the way she showed her love. She put other people’s needs above her own, would often go out of her way to make someone else feel special, and would bring out the best in people and anything she put her hands to.  Connie was a talented cook and loved to provide meals for anyone who needed fed.  She had a knack for organizing awesome and well-planned parties.  She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially those who fondly knew her as “Grandma Connie”.  Connie loved Christmastime and marveled at how Disney World celebrated the season.  She also had a unique love for all animals, especially her yellow lab, Gracie. Connie’s special way with animals had a positive influence on the manner in which Loehmer Dairy cares for its livestock.

She is preceded in death by Harold Gerstandt, father. Those left to cherish her memory and to carry on her legacy are Maurice Loehmer, husband; Adam (Lindsay) Loehmer, son; Ashley (Keith) Risner, daughter; Leland, Landon, Laken, Lyla, Asher, and Adelyn (due July 2020) grandchildren; Shirley Woods Gerstandt, mother; Pennie (Mark) Brettin, sister; Butch (Andrea) Gerstandt, brother; Carol Shank, aunt; Maxine Engel, aunt; many nieces, nephews, and cousins; and Charlotte Rymph, best friend.

Kathryn Leann Britt Corbin, 59, of Francesville, IN went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 1, 2020.  She passed away peacefully at St. Franciscan East Hospital in Lafayette, IN with her soul mate by her side.  Leann was born on April 1, 1961in Lafayette to James L. and Kathryn L. “Katie” Overton Britt, Sr.  She graduated from Tri-County High School in 1980.  On December 29, 1979, she married the love of her life, Donald L. Corbin II in Francesville, IN.  Leann and Donald raised two beautiful daughters, Angala and Erin.

Leann worked at Jasper County Community Services for two years and then started working as a teacher’s aide for KIRPC Head Start.  She went on to earn her Bachelor’s and dedicated her life to teaching children for 15 years.  Leann taught at JCYC preschool in Rensselaer, IN until it closed.  Most recently, she taught resource classes at Rensselaer Elementary School until the time of her illness.  Leann loved each and every one of her students as if they were her own children.  She cherished each hug she received from a student. 

Leann was a loving and devoted wife, mom, nana, sister, sister-in-law and aunt.  She inspired us and always brought out the best in us.  Leann had that special way of always making us smile.  She will be deeply missed but never forgotten.

Bertha Green, 83, of Rochester passed away at 3:35 PM on Thursday, April 2, 2020. Arrangements are pending at Good Family Funeral Home.

William Lee Hawkins, 56, of Warsaw, was surrounded by his loving family when he passed away at 12:35 AM, Thursday, April 2 2020, at his home.

In Hammond, on October 12, 1963, Bill was born a treasured son of  Leamon and Bonnie Cunningham Hawkins. As one of seven, growing up he shared his childhood with three sisters and three brothers.  Bill graduated in 1982 from Tippecanoe Valley High School.  He  was a member of the Viking football team.

On October 16, 1987,  Bill married the love of his life, Miss Wanda Tackett,  in Jackson, TN. Thirty-three years ago Bill proposed to his beautiful wife to be on April Fools day.  They built a relationship that evolved into  32 years of life’s adventures, making many memories.

For 25 years, William was the Director of Quality Control for Valspar.  He also taught classes with skills for utilizing paints and stain.  Talented with his hands, Bill was passionate about woodworking.  He created custom furniture from benches, tool boxes to flower pots.  He had an eye and a wealth of knowledge on a variety species of wood.  Bill once made a bench from  Babinga, a rare African hardwood.

An avid fisherman, Bill stood on the banks of many ponds, landing the catch of day with skill and finesse.  To relax he followed the Chicago Bears, with  # 34 Walter Payton as his favorite player..  A man with a huge heart, Bill's greatest attributes was his thoughtfulness and giving heart.  He was ALWAYS there for his family and friends.  Christmas 2019, Bill showed up to the family celebration as Santa Claus making many memories.

Bill is lovingly remembered by his wife, Wanda, three sisters, Barbara Glodder of  Algonquin, IL,        Angela Marshall, Tonia Arroyo  both of Akron,  two brothers, David Smith Nicholas  and Rudy of Logansport,  Pernell Marshall of Nappanee  and several nieces and nephews.  Also surviving are his two canine companions  the long haired chihuahuas Ody and Jerry.

Preceding William in death are his parents Leamon and Bonnie Hawkins and brother Harold Hawkins.

Thomas M. Sroufe, 86, Macy, Indiana, passed away at 12:23 A.M. Wednesday,  April 1, 2020 at his residence.  He was born in the home of his parents, Russel and Georgianna (Jones) Sroufe, on August 29, 1933, near Macy.  Tom spent his childhood with two younger siblings: Beth and Mark.  In 1951, Tom graduated from Macy High School.  In August 1953, Tom joined the United States Army and was stationed in Germany for 15 months.  He was honorably discharged in August 1955.

On November 27, 1955, Thomas M. Sroufe and Alice J. Barts were united in marriage at Grace United Methodist Church in Rochester. They moved to a farm southeast of Rochester and lived in the same home during their 64 years of marriage.  They were blessed with two sons: Scott Joseph on November 13, 1958, and Eric James on May 24, 1964.  Tom was a lifelong member of Macy Christian Church and enjoyed attending the First Baptist Church boat services. In 2015, Tom and Alice continued attending First Baptist Church in Rochester. 

A life-long farmer, Tom served on the Miami County Fair Board for four years and was elected to the Farmers Home Administration serving Miami, Cass, and Howard counties from 1993 to 1996.  Tom farmed with his grandfather Winfield Scott, father Wilson Russel, sons Scott and Eric, and grandsons Matthew and Brock.  Five generations of Sroufe men working together.

 Tom and Alice were dedicated to their grandchildren’s musical programs and athletic events attending many cross-country, football, baseball, basketball, softball, and volleyball games.  They also found time to attend Notre Dame women’s basketball games beginning with the Ruth Riley era.  In 2001 they traveled with other ND fans to St. Louis to watch the team win its first NCAA national championship. 

Tom is survived by his wife of 64 years, Alice J. Sroufe; sons Scott and wife Karla and Eric and wife Lee Ann. Grandchildren are: Matthew Sroufe and wife Miranda, Brock Sroufe, Andrea and husband Eric Goller, Alanie and husband Matt Hipsher.  Also surviving are great-granddaughters Vanessa Lynn Sroufe and Lydia Ann Sroufe, and great-grandsons Luke Matthew Hipsher and Jameson Scott Goller, brother Mark (Joyce) Sroufe and sister, Beth Nicodemus (friend Peter Meyer), several nieces and nephews and sister-in-law Carol Sue Barts.
