Diana Marie Sult, 80

Diana Marie Sult, 80, of Rochester passed away at 3:15 PM, Thursday, June 25, 2020 at Kosciusko Community Hospital of Warsaw.

On June 25, 1940, Diana M. Wagoner was born in Rochester.  She was a treasured daughter of Russell and Mable Craig Wagoner.  Growing up she shared her childhood with a younger brother Roger.

In Richland Township, Diana and William David "Willie" Sult were married on November 8, 1959.   They shared 54 years of life’s adventures. From their union came a trio of sons.  The family tree continued to grow with the added blessings of two more generations.

With a strong work ethic Diana was a quality control inspector at Torx Corporation for many years.  She later worked in the cafeteria at the Columbia School and was also a licensed beautician.

Willie and Diana loved sharing their passion for camping, nature and the outdoors with their sons.  As members of the Fulton County Camper's Association they visited all of the county campsites.  Camping evolved from the pop-up trailer to motor home, making many lifetime memories around the campfires telling stories.  Diana enjoyed crocheting, making special gifts of warmth for her family and special friends.  A fan of QVC, she enjoyed finding unique pieces of jewelry.

Left to cherish Diana's memory are two sons Mark Sult of North Manchester, Brian Jaworski-Sult and husband Gary Jaworski-Sult of Sunsites, AZ;  four grandchildren, Angel, Krista, Jared, Misty; four great-grandchildren, Addison, Zachary, Bryce, Kimber; a brother, Roger Wagoner Pensacola, FL

Mary Lu Molho

Mary Lucille (Miller) Molho (“Mary Lu”) died quickly at South Bend Memorial Hospital at the age of 81 after experiencing a massive heart attack.

Mary Lu was a Christmas baby born on the cusp of World War II to Ivan Purl Miller and Lucille Harris Miller. She was the greatest gift her parents could have received. Her birth meant her family could no longer afford to send her oldest sister Marilyn to college. For the rest of Mary Lu’s life, she would quote her second favorite aphorism as a recognition of life’s trade-offs, “Take what you want from life but be prepared to pay for it.”

Mary Lu was one of the “smart” kids in school. But she would always deflect her own intelligence and talk about certain Amish girls who were smarter. She rued the fact that these girls stopped their formal education at 8th grade. She would go on to be an educator herself.

Mary Lu attended Purdue University where she took a history degree. She became a life-long Purdue college basketball fan.

After teaching elementary school, Mary Lu pursued graduate studies at the University of Michigan in history where she earned a master’s degree. In her typical self-deprecating way, she claimed that the only way she was admitted to U of M was because the regular admissions dean was on sabbatical, and his interim replacement was a drunk. She loved Michigan college football.

In 1964 she earned a Fulbright scholarship and studied in Mexico. While there, she met a nice Jewish man from New York City, named Manny Molho.  They were married December 27, 1966.

Mary Lu paused her career to raise her two boys in Suffern, New York during the 1970s. Their neighborhood was largely Italian and Irish Catholic, and Jewish.  Mary Lu adored the diversity of her New York neighborhood, but she insisted that her boys know that they were Presbyterian, Protestant, and Christian -- in precisely that order.

Mary Lu and Manny moved from New York to West Lafayette, Indiana in 1982.  In 1989 she moved to Rochester, Indiana to resume her teaching career. She became an active member of the Community Presbyterian Church of Rochester.  In her various leadership roles, she was particularly proficient at politely but relentlessly raising money for various Church mission causes. Throughout her life, Mary Lu was an animal lover and an advocate for animal welfare.  She was never without a dog or cat or both.

Mary Lu experienced a catastrophic medical accident on August 7, 2018.She underwent a back surgery where her aorta was accidentally cut. While being rushed into emergency surgery to repair the error, her heart stopped, and she was given CPR. After months of rehabilitation and care, she experienced an almost full recovery.

Immediately after her recuperation, Mary Lu returned to her role as care giver for her husband, whose health was declining. Her children urged her to throttle back her efforts because they were depleting her. She refused. She said, “God kept me alive for a purpose after my accident, and that purpose was to care for Manny.” And so, she did.

Mary Lu weathered the COVID pandemic by reading the few mysteries left in Rochester’s public library that she had not read before, and by streaming operas from New York’s Metropolitan Opera. With her cat on her lap and her opera blaring she was, as she would like to say, “Happy as a clam.”

Her death came as a sudden shock to everyone. But if told of the circumstances of her own demise, the fact that it was quick, and mostly painless, she would have quoted her first favorite aphorism, “It could have been worse.”

Mary Lu is survived by her step-daughter, Lisa Molho and son-in-law John Cave; her son Ross Molho and daughter in-law Kristina M. Johnson Molho, and three grandchildren, Taylor Kirk, Jacob Molho and Rachel Molho; and son Eric Molho. She adored and was adored by her sister Marilyn Richmond’s extended family. She was preceded in death by many loving family members including her husband Manny in October 2019.

Natalie Marie Gudeman, 97

Natalie Marie Gudeman, 97, of Fort Myers, FL (formerly of Elgin, IL) went home to be with her Lord on Thursday, June 4, 2020, at 5:15 AM. She passed away peacefully in the Pavilion Memory Care unit at Shell Point Village in Fort Myers, where she had resided for more than 20 years as an independent resident and in assisted living.

Natalie was born on November 7, 1922, in Francesville, IN, to the late Joseph B. and Huldah (Getz) Gudeman of Medaryville, IN.  After graduating from High School, she worked at the VonTobel Lumber Company. She attended both Moody Bible Institute in Chicago and Wheaton Bible College in Wheaton, IL.  After moving to Elgin, IL, Natalie worked for Scripture Press in Glen Ellyn, and gained much knowledge in Bible literature. She also worked for the David C. Cook Publishing Company in Elgin.

Later, Natalie taught elementary school in Elgin. She had a great passion and a positive influence in the lives of many children before retiring. She served homemade Thanksgiving dinners to her class every year, and decorating the classroom was one of her many special talents. In her everyday life, she was always teaching. Manners and grammar were of utmost importance to her, as her nieces and nephews can remember well.

Natalie and her longtime friend, Irene Guth, loved traveling the world extensively, visiting many countries and missionaries along the way. She also spent many Sunday afternoons passing out gospel tracts at O’Hare International Airport, or to anyone she wanted to share her love for the Lord.  Natalie had a special way to turn her conversations toward Jesus Christ (John 3:16), and wanted others to know Christ, bringing Glory to God.  She is remembered as always having such a witty sense of humor, always a jokester making others laugh. She had a love for reading with an open mind to learning. Many enjoyed her eloquent speaking and her lovely clothes and style. Natalie loved music and enjoyed singing and playing her favorites, the organ and accordion.  She attended Wheaton Bible Church, and was a faithful servant of God. She sang in the church choirs and served on many church committees, always willing to lend a helping hand. Natalie had a heart for people; she was generous and enjoyed entertaining in her home. She supported missionaries, and graciously opened up her home to them.  She will always be loved and remembered for her kind and caring heart and being “always grateful” to God.
