Entering Week 4 of the high school football season there are three teams tied atop the Three Rivers Conference with unbeaten conference records.
Rochester, Tippecanoe Valley and Maconaquah are all 2-0 in conference play. The Zebras (3-0, 2-0 TRC) are on the road tonight at Wabash (1-2, 1-2).
Last week’s win came easy for Rochester, on the field, with a 70-0 victory over Whitko. It was getting to the field that proved to be the bigger challenge after storms earlier in the week knocked over the scoreboard at Barnhart Field. Hosting Homecoming and the 1987 state championship team meant it couldn’t be as simple as flipping home games with Whitko.
Head coach Ron Shaffer says he’s appreciative of everything that was done to make the home game happen.
For the game itself, it took limited plays for Rochester to overwhelm Whitko.
Shaffer expects a tougher challenge this week at Wabash.
