5-run 7th inning powers Peru to softball win over Rochester

A Rochester 7th inning rally fell short as the Zebras dropped the Three Rivers Conference softball opener to Peru, 9-7.

Rochester (2-5, 0-1 TRC) plated three runs in the bottom of the 7th after Peru scored five times in the top half to break open a 4-4 tie.

Peru jumped out with a run in the first only to have Rochester tie it in the bottom of the inning.  The Tigers reclaimed the lead at 2-1 in the top of the second.  The Zebras grabbed their only lead with a 3-run fourth inning to lead, 4-2.  Peru (4-4-1, 1-0 TRC) tied it in the sixth and took the lead for good with the big inning in the top of the 7th.

Kylie Coleman was 2-for-4 at the plate with two runs scored and two RBI.  Rochester's Sydney Haughs started and worked the first six innings.  Emma Howdeshell took the loss in relief.
