Rochester girls basketball head coach recommendation on agenda for Monday's board meeting

The Rochester Zebras girls basketball program may have a new head coach following the upcoming school board meeting.

Joel Burrus is listed on the Rochester school board agenda as the hiring recommendation for head coach of the girls basketball program.

Burrus coached girls basketball at Caston in-between stints as a boys head coach.  At Caston, Burrus compiled a 12-33 record over the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons.

Before that, he was 3-19 in one season at Lakeland Christian.

Burrus comes to Rochester from Trinity Greenlawn where he has put together five consecutive seasons above.500 as the boys head coach.  His team last season was 15-8.  His best mark at Trinity was in the 2019-20 season, 16-6.

Burrus has also served as JV and assistant boys varsity coach at Southwood.  He is the son of longtime Southwood boys head coach, John Burrus.

The Rochester school board is scheduled to meet Monday evening.
