Rochester drops road opener; Caston, Tippecanoe Valley with season opening girls bball wins

Rochester rallied for a brief fourth quarter lead but couldn't hold it in a season opening road loss at North Judson, 34-32.

 

The loss snapped a modest two-game win streak in the series for Rochester.

 

Emma Howdeshell lead the way for the Lady Z’s with 13 points.  Rily Holloway added 11.

 

North Judson senior Sophia Frasure led all scorers with 18.

 

 

At Caston, the 11th- ranked 1A Comets downed Argos, 54-38.

 

Isabel Scales scored 16 points to go with 11 rebounds and seven assists.  Teammates Addison Zimpleman and Bailey Harness were also in double figures with 12 and 10, respectively.Harness added six rebounds.

 

It was a record-setting night for Tippecanoe Valley's Kaydence Melott.  Her game-high 28 points helped Tippy to a win at Bremen, 68-32.

 

The 5'8" senior also connected on her 196th 3-pt field goal.  She now owns the program's all-time 3-pt record along with single game and single season 3-pt shooting marks.
