Culver rally falls short at Rochester in boys basketball opener

It's a time for giving thanks.  Rochester boys basketball may offer up a thank you to Culver free throw shooting.  It damaged the Cavaliers chances at a road win in the season opener Wednesday night.

Culver rallied from a 13-point halftime deficit but Rochester held on for the home win, 51-49.

Rochester was led in a balanced scoring effort by Brock Bowers 12 points.  Paul Leasure added 11.  Six other Zebras were in scoring column with three or more points including Luke Hunting with eight.

Culver placed three men in double figures led by Ethan Keller's 17.  Emiliano Ortiz had 15 and Shane Shuman scored 14.  But only other Cavalier scored, David Hite with three point.

Rochester outscored Culver Community by nine points at the free throw line.  Culver shot only 6-of-17 (35.2%).

Rochester (1-0) plays at Winamac on December 2.
