A Rochester man was airlifted from a two-car accident scene Wednesday.

Fulton County 911 dispatch received a call about 6:30 am of a two-vehicle accident on US 31 and Monticello Road. 

Two vehicles came to rest in the center crossover of Monticello Road.  Further investigation revealed that John W. Nichols, 80, of Rochester was eastbound attempting to cross US 31.  He made it across the northbound lanes but was struck by a southbound vehicle driven by Julius M. Robinson, 36, of Kalamazoo MI. 

Nichols was airlifted with unknown injuries. 

The incident remains under investigation.
