Fatal accident on US 30 Friday

Multiple emergency units were dispatched to a two-vehicle collision on US 30 at CR 325 E, Friday evening.

The preliminary results of the investigation, conducted by the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office Fatal Team, indicate that a 2007 Ford Fusion, driven by Richard Anderson, 85, of Warsaw, was traveling southbound on CR 325 E.  As the Fusion crossed the eastbound lanes of US 30, it was struck on the passenger side by the front end of a 2015 Toyota Tacoma, driven by James Lewis, 61, of Huntington.

Both vehicles left the southeast side of the intersection following the collision. Nancy Barrett, 77, of Warsaw, the front seat passenger in the Fusion, was pronounced deceased at the scene by the Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office.

Anderson was airlifted from the scene to a Fort Wayne hospital, where he remains in critical condition. Lewis and a front seat passenger in his vehicle were evaluated at the scene and released.

This crash remains under investigation.
