Man killed in Tuesday Fulton County car crash

A Macy man was killed in a Tuesday night one-car crash.

Just before 9:00 pm, a Fulton County Sheriff's deputy was traveling west on St Rd 114 near 450 West. The deputy observed what appeared to be tire marks and debris from a possible accident.

It was discovered that a red 2005 Pontiac passenger car, driven by Gary L. Bowers (56) of Macy, had left the roadway on the south side for an unknown reason.  During the investigation it was learned that it appeared the driver had overcorrected and went off the road. The vehicle then rolled over several times and came to rest in a field.

Bowers was entrapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by the fire department. He was flown from the scene by helicopter but later died from his injuries.

This accident is still under investigation but it is believed that a high rate of speed and alcohol were contributing f actors.

Assisting at the scene were Lutheran EMS, Liberty Twps. Fire Department, Wayne Twps. Fire
Department, Macy-Allen Twps. Fire Department, and Samaritan Helicopter.
