Buyers beware: iPhone scam on the rise

Buyers beware!  If you're buying an iPhone 11 Pro Max online with Facebook Marketplace, buy-sell-trade, classified ads or something other than an Apple authorized dealer for a price that's too good to be true, it probably is.

With an enormous market share, the fake iPhone business has, unfortunately, become extremely profitable for devious manufacturers. There are so many fake iPhone 11's in the market currently that look identical to the real thing, buying one from unfamiliar sources is risky.

Many iPhone 11's are reportedly being sold online from cities close  like Ft.Wayne, Elkhart and Indianapolis for anywhere between $300-$600. The iPhone 11 Pro Max is worth $1449.

Although there isn't a whole lot of difference in looks at first glance, with a thorough inspection it turns out to actually be a $165 android with a cover and stickers.

Buyers should look for any slight irregularities in the packaging, button and logo placements.

The photos provided show just how real a fake iPhone looks and what to look for. It was bought online by a Fulton County resident from a seller in Ft.Wayne.

Some of the biggest clues are after you turn on the iPhone, like the welcome screen, the font type-in messages and being able to access Siri.

The extra cameras are a plastic piece with stickers, therefore the camera quality won't be as good either.
