45 pounds of marijuana found in Fulton County traffic stop

A traffic stop turned into a drug related arrest for Fulton County authorities.

 

Fulton County Sheriff’s Deputy Mitch Scott conducted a traffic stop Saturday at U.S. 31 and Old 31.  While in contact with the driver, John Madden, 46, of Evarts, Kentucky, the press release states that the deputy believed there to be criminal activity and called for a K9 unit.  Deputy Ryan utter and K9 Rapid responded and conducted a free air sniff around the vehicle.  K9 Rapid indicated the presence of illegal narcotics from the vehicle.

 

A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in officers finding over 45 pounds of suspected marijuana, 17 grams of suspected methamphetamine, THC vape cartridges, THC honey and a loaded handgun.

 

Madden was charged with possession of methamphetamine, dealing in marijuana, possession of marijuana and possession of paraphernalia.

 

The Rochester Police Department assisted the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office at the traffic stop.
